I don't know if this was posted before, so here it goes.

I have often thought that certain metal noises from my track/slide rail was due to build-up of ice breaking loose. But I have recently discovered the real source of the irregular knocking type noise.

It was the part on the skid where the center ski shock mounts. This piece is a heavy bar that connects the two rails at the very front and is also where the shock mounts are. Mine was loose and I couldn't tell when the sled was sitting still because of the weight on the mount from the shock.

Just a thought for those that might have experience this metal noise also.

03 RX shorty, but the design of the warrior skid is exactly the same(in that area).

The big cross bar rotates back and forth. This is where the noise comes from.

It is this part that I have circled which was loose and the source of noise for a considerable amount of time.

Thats the part I thought you were referring to, I have broken > welded and replaced. No noise, but I can believe if was loose, could clunk or rattle as it is loaded unloaded. Waiting for snow yamadoo

Eskimo, what exactly did you do to remedy the noise? What did you tighten up or replace?

Hi Bob,

My sled has been out of commission since the fall. I haven't fixed the problem yet. I would imagine though that tightening the bolts on either side should fix the problem.

FYI, My from arm on the skid had cracked last season without me knowing it. In my first trip of this year, the swing arm had shattered (I guess these W-Arms are known for breaking up in hard-packed or agressive riding conditions). I had to make it home so I kept going. By the time I got home, the center shocks shaft had bent, broken pieces of the swing arm had torn up my track. I also hit a rock and busted my front heat exchanger.

I plan to get a 136 M-10 with ohlins all around and replace all the broken parts including the heat exchanger. With shipping I am looking at $5500 CDN to fix it up.

The broken swing arm should be a warranty issue, including the damage to the track. I haven't looked into that yet.
