I will give that belt a shot. I even think I might have one. I'm not sure. I bought a few different ones as I was out of town and there was no Yamaha dealer where I was. So I got what they had. Never used it except to break it in. And do you think I lowered my gearing with that belt meaning I lost some top end? Not like I really care about a mile an hour or two. But just wondering.
I put this post in so that people with similar problems have a solution until it's fixed by Yamaha. I'm glad it works and maybe people will try it. Who knows. I did...lol

I probably wasn't getting full shift. But when it ran good it went all the way to 9000 rpm and pulled like crazy. I think its faster now. I never seen 111mph before.

Give it a good pull on the weekend or this week and report back. If it won't hit max speed and rpm limiter then she's leaving lots on the table.

Ok
I checked belt deflection with stock belt it's 1 1/4 so then I added shims ( a .5mm & 1.0 mm )and put on a xs805 belt and I'm at 1 1/4 on the belt deflection so why wouldn't this belt work it sits higher in the clutch but that's what all my Polaris did and they worded great !
I don't care if I loose a couple mph in top I'm not a lake racer or a drag racer , so this my give a little better corner to corner !

Tim,
I just got back from Cooke and Togwotee. In the 5 days of riding I burnt up 2 belts.
My sled has the 162 camo xtreme track and MCX turbo.
My RPM was all over the place. On trail it would hold 8600-8800 rpm and sometimes shoot to 9100 with the pop of reve limiter. Climbing hills and riding in powder I was only getting at best 7200 rpm. Sled was a slug and my MTX would pull harder.
For clutching I run the 8 BU weights with steel rivets, green white green primary spring from MTX and MTX 39* helix and white spring.
I have experience the same issues as you and my clutches are extremely hot and slipping. Not holding RPM was also very frustrating as it made it difficult to climb when needed. Then to blow two belts in 200 miles really sucked. No one had belts down there and thankfully it was last day at end of ride. I did have a spare 8DN that I had as worst case.
I May try the 8DN anyway. I am also going to lower my gearing as the 21/41 combo is really high for what I am doing. Going to try the 21/49 or 21/50. I am hoping that helps take some load off the belt.

There is definitely something going on that someone needs to figure out. I don't think it's going to hurt anything if we do use the 8DN, but there is a reason we are not hitting proper rpm one time then we do the next time. It is very weird! I think us turbo guys are blowing the belt simply because we have the horse power. My dealer fixed my problem and fixed my lower belly pan and gave me a new side panel and fixed the piece that protects the caliper by putting a new one in and gave me three belts. So I'm happy with what they did. And I feel it pulls just as hard, without the heat and slipping and it's way cooler. So problem solved....for now. Until Yamaha figures out something. I'm happy you made it with your other belt. As I have been out there and it really sucks to get stranded!

It sounds like you got it fix , so would you really use what yamaha figures out , they don't figure anything out it's the dealers and they report back to them then they say we got a fix now "do this " so if it's working run it

Sounds like a belt problem, not a clutch problem. I think you are correct in saying you turbo guys are seeing this first because of the power.

Ya I think I got her fixed. And hell no, if Yamaha figures out what's wrong 16 years from now they will probably say it's the belt and switch it...lol I'm just kidding, but I'm good so I'll leave it. Unless they say it's something major, then I'll fix it.

Could be right. I'm not sure why it happened, but maybe the slight changes they made with the new belt is not ready for higher HP, although some people with turbos are not having any trouble. So who knows. At least I have it taken care of. And she rips!

That's pretty much the same problem that I was having. Try what I did...
