terrible top end speed..

Ho
hey guys, just got back from a weekend riding, my sled is a 16 ltx se big venom clutch kit, mbrp race can(being removed shortly was to loud) and a 8DN belt, pulls really good in the trails, corner to corner the sleds an animal, but top end its terrible 135-140kph i feel like the sled was faster before the clutch kit, any thing i might be missing? the sled is running around 8800 rpm at wot

now on previouse 2 stroke sleds i ran, i have tested cans and the mbrp can always made the sled run slower then the stock muffler, could this be whats holding the sled back? not enough back pressure maybe? the sled pulls amazing then literally hits a wall at 135kph

thanks
connor
How many miles on sled, my 15 ltx dx would only rev 8800 and it wouldn't go over 82 mph until I got around a thousand miles on it, I believe these motors don't really wake up until about 2k miles, but snow conditions do dictate top end in most cases.

I'm a bigger guy and my sled has always went faster with me on it, got buddies that are 100 pounds lighter and the sled is slow with them on, hit the nail on the head, suspension needs to be compressed to get better speed. These things can gain so much just by focusing on the chassis.
I am bigger guy as well 250 on any given day. I was disappointed with my sled a few weeks ago 2016 lxt le with Ulmer clutch kit and osp belt adjuster. A new sled this year, at 500 miles I was only seeing 81-84 with rpms around 8600-8750. Now with 1000 miles I soften the rear shock (elka stage 4) and I was seeing 91-94 with rpms around 8950 with about a 1.5" loose snow on top of hard pack. I think it's important to run the track loose and get the rear to squat abit. My 2014 ltx dx would only every get 88. A definite difference in the new helix with this new kit from Allen. I was happy with that speed for the conditions haul'in my fat #*$&@ around all day

sled has 1900kms on it now, im a big guy aswell 280lbs, but when my 08 skidoo 600 sdi would run 95mhp all day every day and a 15k yamaha with double the displacement wont do 90mph thats pretty sad really..

I totally agree... I'm 180 lbs and can't get over 87 on a good day

check out the clutch cleaning thread by nospro. He talks about filing some left over metal from the casting process of the secondary. Some need this area cleaned up to get the secondary to open up. I sent my secondary down to ulmer and have him machine it

When mine was new ( less than 300 miles odo) completely stock from the dealer, mine would run 94 back to back runs on the lake with hard pack and no ice. 180-190lbs with gear. On the trail, 86-88 mph depending on the open stretch. Now its a different story..

i will definatly read the thread on the seccondary, do you have the link? my plan was to turbo the sled this year, that went out the window with the rod recall... road my buddys le sidewinder, its crazy id love to deal this sled in but with a kid on the way it isnt in the budget lol

i love the sled besides the top end, so i will live with it, but the seccond i can afford to get a sidewinder, im doing it lol

My viper will run low 100's on good hard pack trails, but currently struggling with clutching after the header and Evo stage 4 flash install, making great power, but sled seems to be hitting a wall again at 84-86 mph, the weather isn't cooperating and have no time to test as I'm working 6 days a week:o|

Or just ride for that matter,#$%&*!!!
