I am pretty sure I read on here that the lower body panel screws on my sled and most others are a Philips head (star) but the same screws/bolts on the Phazer's are a head that takes a socket?
I was removing the side panels on my Vector today and came across one that I over tightened, and of course stripped
I eventually got it out but there is no way I am replacing any of them with the same Philips head if I can help it.
Do the Phazer screws/bolts take a socket?
Are there any other alternatives with these screws/bolts or is a Yamaha dealer my only option?

5mm socket allen dzuess on one side and Dzuess on the other for the Phazer.
You need 90154-06009-00's for yours and a #2 philips. The right size
screwdriver doesn't strip them. I keep a half a dozen around, everytime I
work on a sled several need replacing. Seems most people think there are
only #3 philips out there.
(correction , allen head not socket head)

So the Dzuess from a Phazer will work??
I have various sizes of Philips and I can tell you I use the correct size and haven't had an issue until today.
Don't know exactly what went wrong other than I must have over tightened it the last time, but I am still surprised as I had lubed up the threads the last time I had the panels off?
The bolt is located on the clutch side so maybe it has something to do with the lube and the belt dust, not sure?

Check out the same screws off a 2011 apex . they have 10mm heads and are better to deal with.

Your tool kit has the correct phillips driver to remove the screws on your sled.
I found if I grind the tip off the Philips bit, it bites the screw better.

I posted the fact that the Phazer screws are the same except that they have a 10 mm hex head. I own a 05 Vector, 06 Apex & 07 Phazer. The screws you want are not the ones that hold the side panels on. The ones you want hold the tank cover & the side trim covers on the air box.

Does it matter what year Phazer?
Long shot, but any part numbers?
Thanks Handy

The phazer has 10mm head bolt that told the upper sides, and bottom sides (not clutch cover but lower).

I can get the size/thread or you in a bit if you want to make sure they will fit?

yamahas said:Its a M6x1.0x15 The overall length from the inside of the head to the end of the threads is 15mm. There is also a 5mm "spacer" and the threads are 10mm long.
I posted a picture to help understand just in case it was not 100% clear.
Thanks Yamahas, I order 8 of these this morning at a $1.14 a bolt and was told they should be in in a couple of days?
I also inquired about the bolt and clip that goes on the lower rear part of the panel that bolts to your tunnel, and was told they are over $12 bucks!

Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it

I have used a #3 philips screwdriver to remove the lower panel screws on my sleds( 2-06 apex 06 nytro)for years and not one screw has slipped except when I used a #2 driver. Hope you are using the right driver.
