Hi all, I'm in the process of purchasing a new Apex and I am trying to decide which to choose, the LTX or the LTX GT. Is going with the GT worth the extra approx. $1500.00, the difference appears to be primarily suspension upgrades. Opinions on weather those upgrades are worth it or not, I guess is what I need to know. Thanks for any assistance. Great forum by the way, this is my first post! LoL!!

I have the Apex Ltx Gt, And I love it. I'm not sure the suspesion upgrade is worth $1500.00 though. I still bottom it out set at the stiffest at the bars. If I did it over again I would buy the big boy spring for the standard suspension. Just my 2 cents. I will probably be wrong.

I have the base '08 APEX L-TX and love it once you get it dailed in...difference is the base model has a KYB rear suspension shock w/remote dial mounted on left side of tunnel and has regular non "CLICKER" front ski shocks...
"GT" has the SAME suspension front/skis & rear/track, the difference are the SHOCKS, the rear suspension is a OHLINS w/electronic setting that you can adjust on the fly via on your handle bar and the front ski shocks are KYB "CLICKERS" w/adjustable COMPRESION & REBOUND w/remote reservoir...
Their's been a lot of post/opinions on both its really up to the individual to justify the extra cost, to me 1 or the other are as good as the other once you get them set to your riding STYLE...its a MUST to get the right spring rate and valving on the rear shock to your riding STYLE & WEIGHT or you will not appreciate your MONO suspension to its fullest!
Either sled you can't go wrong...GT will just take you more green back to buy...good luck with your purchase once you get'er post some PICS.

Thanks for the quick replys. "Tomorrow" is decision day....gulp. I'll post next week which one I chose, but I'm leaning toward the standard LTX at the moment.

I have an Attak GT which is essentially the same thing. I agree, the EC is not worth the extra cost. Better front shocks can be had for 1/3 of that cost and will do quite well - guys sell them on here all the time.

I have had both. Had 6 standards and one GT. I really didn't thing there would be much of a difference or a big deal whether you adjusted with a dial or adjusted thru a toggle. I now can say after having the GT, I've never rode a std. again. I ended up selling all the stds. It is much nicer to use the toggle to adjust compression dampening. Never have to slow down or take your hand off the bars. I adjust it many times a day based on trail conditions. Also nice to change settings on front shocks; just have to stop to do it. I don't think there should be a $1500 difference. $800-$1000 should be more the norm.

The Ohlines shock in the gt with the steel body will outlast the cheaper alum. bodied KYB in the standard apex. The performance of the shock will stay steady with the Ohlines ,where i've seen the KYB's wear rather quicky ,and start bottoming.

I agree with KNAPPATTAK the more I ride long distance days I find I use the electric toggle alot. Yet 1500 seems allot for the difference. You will love either sled so you really can not loose.

I couldn't tell that much of a difference in my EC adjustment until I had Carver re-valve my rear shock. Now the EC adjustment seems to have a greater effect over the adjustment range just like I was told that it would. Now I adjust my EC daily as trail conditions change.
I also agree that there shouldn't be a $1500 difference. If you want the GT, make the dealer a lower offer. I have got to believe that he would be willing to deal this time of year.

Thanks again for all the great info and advice. I went to the dealer yesterday (its about 200 miles from where I live) and he had sold all of the LTX and the LTX GT's, all he had left unless I wanted to order a 2010 was one Apex trail (121"). I was disappointed that the LTX's were all gone but he offered me a good deal on the one remaining 09' trail model (under 10 cdn) so I took it. I guess I'll save a bit on studding LoL! Nice looking machine though. I'm used to the 121" tracks anyway, thats what my 07 Blizzard has, but I thought the 137" would be a bit smoother on the trails. Is the ripsaw on the Apex predrilled for studding? My Blizzard was premarked but not predrilled.

Nope not pre marked from factory...but hey that's a great deal on a new apex...what dealer did you get her from???
I go with the woodies pattern (seach my Nytro studding post with pixs) keeps 2 studs per row close to the rails and the center with no studs...sometimes the center studs can hit the exhaust if the track streechs....beside better penatrasion near the rails

Winnipeg Sport and Leisure is where I bought it. Gosh I'm surprised that the track isn't even marked for studding. It sure makes it easier when it is. I use the Woody's Gold Carbide on the Blizzard. 94 pattern I believe, we don't drive very aggresively so the 94 suits us fine for the kind of braking and cornering on the groomed trails that we do.Daranello said:Nope not pre marked from factory...but hey that's a great deal on a new apex...what dealer did you get her from???
