How will my sled react to a 45/39 helix?
Last year I had a straight 41 helix with 144"/1.75 track/ 9 tooth drivers which worked pretty good, except i hit the limiter when giving it full throttle from a dead start.
This is my setup;
Nytro Mcx 180/190
153" 2.5" challenger extreme
7 tooth drivers
19/39 gearing
Pink secondary spring @ 100 degress twist
Mcx primary weights
Stock primary spring/rollers

The 45/39 will help on the limiter thing.
I would recommend buying a set of STM SuperTips weights, they are highly adjustable, you can add up to 14 grams close to the pin to get it from hitting the rev limiter.
You could always buy Power Commander Ignition module and raise the limiter.....

Is'nt there a reason Yamaha put the rev limiter where it is? To avoid possible engine damage or something like that?

Yes, it's there to keep the engine from running at too high rpms. The engine will survive a few sec at slightly higher rpms.

I see. I don't want another box, waiting to fail on me.
I'll try to get the rpm's down instead.
Im gonna try the 45/39 helix first (Its from my dad's Rx1) so it wont cost me anything. If that does not solve it, Im getting the supertip weights.
Thanks

Agree on that one, clutching will fix your problem, no need for any more electronics
