I am wondering if anybody could help me with using my MCX datalogger? I just fisished the turbo install on my 09 XTX and installed the MCX display to monitor live A/F, boost, Inlet temps etc....and I can also data log and retieve the info threw my laptop(nothing out of the ordinairy). I am wanting to understand the software now and familiarise myself but........?
Now, once I down loaded all the software provided by MCX re: "Megatune" and "Log Downloader" I cannot seem to get the PC to communicate with the ECU? Once I try and open "Megatune" with the usb conected to the MCX box with ignition on it tells that I have a :communicaton error"? It askes to to select another port threw "device manager" on my pc and this will tell me which port to accept? It prompts me to a port #4 for or COM4 and I then select that new port threw "Megatune" and the same window of communication error pops up and askes me to select a port? WTF please help been trying to get this to work for two days now.....I give up and i also need to mention that i am not a computer genius by all means lol!!!

I also need to mention that all the software has been properly downloaded with both icons showing up on my home screen. Megatune opens up properly but will not cummunicate with the Nytro at all due to a "port" selection issue?
The MCX box displays all vitals as it should therefore, I believe it has been properly installed as well> I am sure somebody out their has run into a similar problem? Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me to move forward. Thanks!

Hi!
Had problem like you.First click START and Right click on this computer and choose property. Then click Hardware and then choose Device Manager. Here you must change to the right port (com&LPT) You can see which to use. I have windows xp on my computer. Good luck, hope this helpt you.

When you have the MCX display connected to the computer go to the computers device manager (right click om "my computer" choose "manage", then "device manager") there you have an section called "ports (com and lpt)", click on + so it expands, there you see which com port is used for the display, make necessary post selection in Megatune, when connected display should show "MCX".
K I will try this right now! I was also wondering if during all this messing arround while my pc is conected to my MCX box......Is it possible that my stock file got bucked out? I am asking this because the sled is a little hard to start....well it starts then stalls and does this a couple of times before idling at 12.2 to 12.5 air/fuel?
It was not hard to start at all before I hooked it up to my pc? But, I also would think that it was impossible to connect to my PC since I never "communicated with it as per "Megatune". Sorry about all the stupid questions I am just learning on how all this works and it bugs me not to understand it at the level I would like to since I am such a perfectionist. With time I guess.........I hope? Thanks!

No success??? I have found(com lpt) and it suggested port com4 and I have made the changes in "Megatune" with still no communication after a "test" as per Megatune??? Once I open com4 it says that the usb is working properly?
I should also mention that I have Windows "Vista" if that matters? After reading the provided mcx cd it does not say that it supprts Vista although it seems that the CD was produced a few years ago before Vista was born? Just trying to figure this out

You should try with Windows XP, Think thats the answer to your problem. Dont you have anybody with xp on their computer and try innstal the cd on theirs computer and then try it.
I am hoping that that is not the issue since I would hate to re-start on somebody else's computer? I will wait to see if anybody is using this software with windows Vista?

I had to test this since i have Windows XP in my snowmobile pc .
I tested with my Windows 7 machine and it didn't work, so i guessed that Windows 7 must have newer drivers so i checked with MCX if they had any, they gave me a link where i could dl them, i did so, upgraded the drivers, solved, now it works.
Link for them, choose the newest 2.06.02: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
Good luck!
