Just waxing the sleds for a ride this weekend and noticed a freinds Rage has melted the headlights. Small spots in front of the lamps themselves. Just wondering how many have had this happen, and any therories, oh and he has stock lamps.
Well the dealer never saw anything like it before, said Yamaha might cover it. Just to be safe he ordered a new headlamp assembly.

Put a 60 hp nozzle of nos and some clutching and that is one bad fast sled.
It is a puzzler, if can get around to it I will post some pictures.
same thing happened to my aprilia rsv mille ,and a freinds r1 "04" ,dealer couldnt explain,and both bikes had stock bulbs,no abnormal voltages or current draw ,was found ,onething was the same though,they were both idling for longer than 15 mins.

Did that to my RX-1 last year. I had the brights on. If you are not moving much for a number of minutes it will melt the lens. Got no help on that from yamaha and bought a used one off this forum.

It will definitely get hotter if its not moving, but I've sat mine idling for 15 minutes in the heat of summer and never melted anything.
