Mobile one anyone using it

well I guess you dont need a "GOOD LUCK TO YOU MY FRIEND" do you? seams like you've proved it !

what do you think of the energy saving 0-30 vs. the 5-20..

I don't think there would be too much 'seen' energy savings, as once the engine is warm, it all flows pretty good...the only possible difference might be when cold.
As far as the luck part, my trade was toolmaker, and I've spend the last 35 years in heavy manufacturing...large steam turbine/generators (please don't ask about the stock price!!LOL), and when huge rotors and fields are machined, they 'float' on oil in a liner, which is just like a main bearing in a 4 stroke engine. As long as the oil is relatively clean, and there is pressure, no issues occur. I think Mobil 1 is just real good clean oil...but in reality, as long as there is pressure, and the oil meets some minimum spec, there will be absolutely no engine failures related to oil. The Yammy sled motors are no more sophisticated (concerning lubrication) than many other applications where metal to metal contact is not desired.

I have it on good athority that Mobil 1 has been put on allocation. This means it will be harder to find in certine markets. This is due to the hurricanes this year.

A few things....5w20 in the newer FORDS may be due to a couple things, like emissions and engine internal tolerances. Fords don't turn 11000rpm, and so it's my opinion I'd stick to at least a 5w30 or 0w40.

Secondly, yes, M1 is distributed in Canada in part by AcDelco....and right now, it's on NATIONAL BACKORDER!!!! I just removed any special pricing we may have been giving on it!! LOL!!

if you say 0-40 you must mean 0w-30

Nope, I meant 0w40.

I suppose with all the nos you put through your motor you would need 40 weight...for the rest of us mere mortals I'm sure m1 30 is more than adequate protection

What do the hurricanes have to do with synthetic oil? If it's synthetic it shouldn't matter if there were hurricanes as that affects regular oil, correct?

blew all the synthetic oil wells down silly ...lol

refineries that process I suppose...or hype to create a supply and demand situation to raise prices..

not sure the reasons. I will ask!

Also, what weight is the Yammy oil?

castrol 0-30

Anyone here running castrol 0-30, have no idea what type the previous owner was running. Just wondered if anyone had tried it.

According to the October 15 edition of Jobbers World Online News Brief, selected ExxonMobil synthetic products have been put on allocation effective October 1, 2008. The announcement explained, "ExxonMobil marketers (and direct served customers) were advised that allocation of Mobil 1 lubricants will take effect October 1 as a result of Hurricane Ike causing significant disruptions to supply lines to ExxonMobil Chemical's (EMC) Beaumont, TX plant." They went on to state, "According to marketers, the allocation is expected to last several months and impact availability of most Mobil 1 lubricants. Allocations are said to range from 15% to 100% based on lubricant type and package."

in other words...supply is greater than demand...so the pull back in supply to up demand and in the end raise prices!
