why are you quoting me, then replying "good luck to you, my friend"
Seems like you had a problem with my opinion...so I explained myself...you have the right to your opinion...as do I, and I have the right to "bold" my type for ease of reading.....if you dont like it...dont read and learn..
Seems like there is more of an issue here, Than just oil viscosity.Just a simple question and I have to be talked to like I am in third grade again. Now, I am being told to read and learn? Read what you have written? How can I learn from that? Run 20w-10 in your sled if you want I really do not care!

I suppose you are right Mr.Hope..

I put a post on sharing my experience with all and your "good luck to you my friend" reply is the condesending third grade comment...if you didnt care for or agree maybe you should just keep it to yourself..

In my day and time Good luck to you my friend is a common saying and a wish of well being, Obviously there must be a generation gap. Live long and Prosper, Thats cool Dude, Whatever, Jackass. Is either of those more appropriate?

I've used it for years...rx1's, vector and apex. No issues whatsover. Funny, no oil burning either.
5w-20, same stuff I run in our Fords. In fact, I run this stuff in everything including lawn mowers, etc. All run great. For years.

Hey Sump..
just wanted to follow up as to your using the 5w-20...

how many miles and years have you used this on the fourstrokes???

All car oil are 4 strokes, The shop manual on apex 07 calls 5-30w to -40F . My buddy's RX-1 calls for 0-30w but he also uses 5-30w for 3 years. and we have no problem starting our sleds in -30F. Oh bide away we use Super Tech (Walmart Brand) full synthetic. have for years. If you worry about your warranty don't it meets or beats Yamaha specs ( who knows Yamalube might be made by the same company). I ratter spend on beer.

yes...walmart super tech synthetic is made in the same plant as Mobil one!

5w is fine..0w offers a lower flow point...doesnt mean you'd ever have a starting problem with 5w....but wouldnt hurt running 0w IMHO

sj
Yeah your right but unless your in Canada Ow is harder to fine all though I seen Mobile1 0-30w at walmart 7.00 a quart.

I have it on good athority that Mobil 1 has been put on allocation. This means it will be harder to find in certine markets. This is due to the hurricanes this year.

I was told that y'day at Murrays....but I did manage to get the last 6 qts. of m1 0-30 energy at 30.00 on sale!

sj, yes, you read correctly. We have two Fords, one with the double overhead cam v6 and a mustang with the double v8, and both specify 5w-20. And my wife's car starts fine all winter, as well as my truck and neon..I use it in everything to avoid having too many different types. Again, the oil is actually the weight of the low number..the polymers increase viscosity to the higher numbers. Problem is, polymers don't lubricate. I think this info was from Amsoil. In any case, the synthetic M1 is recommended and exceeds just about every standard exotic car manufacturers set...and I have a 98 neon with 150,000 miles still running fine, with relatively clean oil between changes. If it ain't broke,...........lol.

and you are running the 5w-20 in your sled? how many miles have you logged with it?

Yes, 5w-20 in everything, including the sleds.
I ran the original Yamalube in both my brand new 03 RX'1s (for 500 miles) then switched to the Mobil synthetic. There may have been a 10w-30 in there too early on (Wal Mart sometimes didn't have the 5w-20 regularly a few years back), before we got the Fords. A friend bought my black RX and that has around 6000 or more miles on, the blue one was sold and the guy also runs Mobil (I still change it for him) and that must have 6000 or more miles. The 05 Vector has about 4000 on, and the Apex around 3000. My neon just passed 150,000 miles last week. I like the stuff. No problems at all. I have no concerns using it, as I used to beat the snot out of the neon..it doesn't even burn oil.........at least, not yet! lol.
An interesting side note, when cleaning up, I use Castrol Super clean. As soon as it touches Mobil 1, it turns bright purple!!!

Price is going up...I paid around 22 bucks for a 5 quart jug a few months ago, and my daughter just picked one up for almost 27....
