Mode button Does not work

2006 apex gt. When i press the mode button on the gauge it does not do anything. I wanted to adjust my shock but cannot get to that on the screen. The wire to my shock did break so i joined the wires together. I cant remember the colours of wire but i think i joined the black to black and white to brown. If that was wired wrong would that be the cause of the mode not working? Could it be a fuse?

It's still broken somewhere, or was reconnected wrong. It's not the fuse if you found the wire was broken.
