Mods- with all due respect, why was my thread deleted?

if ebay links were allowed, sooner or later this place would look like youtube with all the ads. dont need em, dont want em - i look at ebay every day, dont need to look at links on here. sooner or later someone would come up with a spambot that would post every ebay listing on here that had the word yamaha in it - then were would we be.

oh, and another thing - i dont think this is a place to "plead your case" if you have a problem - need help with a fix great, got an issue with yamaha or a dealer go to them - i listen to wining and moaning all day at work - dont want to have to see it in my leisure time.

Yes I am the one who has the ad on ebay. And just going to make it short ask all the questions you would like. The link to this thread didn't work the frist time for me so I forgot about it and checked again now and it worked. But anyways I Had insurance through the bank I had the loan through. They did cover it. But only partially. At the time of the fire I want to say I owed around 3500 on the machine. After 2 months insurance finally covered it a little bit. I owed 2300 after insurance did there part. So obviously I got screwed to say the least on that. Someone got to eat some steaks on me. Yamaha claimed for a few months they were going to help me. I answered all there questions I did everything they asked. They asked in the end for me to bring it to the dealer. The dealer took a look and said "yea its burnt I don't know what they could want me to look at". I called yamaha a couple days later and they said "I wanted him to keep it at the dealership and really look into it" they said they would call me back. I waited a couple days and decided to call them again. When I did Yamaha said " Joe I have been meaning to contact you". Then said "We have come to the conclusion that there is not enough there, we can no longer help you". I have come to a for sure conclusion with my investigating that the problem does come from the flex point on the exhaust. I do believe after all this I do have a solid case. I have got a LOT of calls with other cases. The ebay ad was originally a last attempt to get yamaha to back there stuff. But if I don't get my money back with the add it made my case for me so it was not a loss. My sled was not turbo it was WELL maintained. it only had 1300 miles on it anyways.

Do you still have the sled?
Is it the one in Ebay pic?
How about a picture of your exhaust and Flex pipes?

I dont have a scanner. But it looks the same as the pics the other guy put on. 1 side still fully intact the right side completely split. Accept on mine that everything around it melted. As you can see in my pic on ebay most everything melted. I must say pretty wild blue flames were coming off the motor though.

Not to add any more confusion to this thread, but there are a lot of people on this site that may offer realistic help when a sticky situation arises. Check the ty site help forums, and ask sincere questions about how to get help from your dealers or Yamaha directly. Posting a "rant" or negative threads, or showing excessive anger doesn't always help. Just like our parents always told us "ask nicely" !
We're here to help, just be respectful and follow the rules! Thanks!

So the insurance company totaled the machine and said it's value was $1200? What insurance company did you have?

That would be correct. I had the insurance through the bank I had the loan with. I don't know who that was.

I think your beef is with the insurance company that screwed you out of a fair value on your sled and not Yamaha. I would start complaining to the people that sold be the policy, you can see them face to face. The ebay stuff and calls to Yamaha are a waste of time. This is what your insurance is supposed to cover.

Biker Joe's comments about the cracked pipe sound familiar. I recently repaired an '07 Phazer's exhaust for a guy that was clueless about the problem, but it was obviously louder than normal. Should be a warning to guys with older Phazers.

The pipe of the number 2 exhaust joint was completely cracked off from its flange. It fell off as soon as the muffler bands were removed.

I ordered a replacement exhaust joint and when I received it I noticed it was welded on both sides of the flange as opposed to just the one side on the broken joint, which looked as if the flange was slid over it and welded against the gasket mating surface of the flange. The welds on the new exhaust joint were heavier too (more filler weld).

I broke one the first year. My dealer replaced them both and i remember him saying the new ones were much better.
