BVS2, definately the best trail riding helmet on the market in my opinion. No need for electric sheild, flip down sun shade, the breath box takes a bit to get used to, but I wont ever buy a different full face helmet.

Still need to check into parts availability...BRP has orginal mod, mod1,mod2,& mod 3 parts are going to be a problem at sometime & all slightly different....just saying check it out as could be another version on the way.He said a Mod 3, not a Mod 1.

Mod 3 came out before last season. Mod 2 came out 6 years ago? Mod 3 is the same as Mod 2 except that the shell has a different shape. Parts are the same. Ask me how I know this?......
Mod 1 has been around a long time. Mod 1 parts are all over eBay as well as other places on the net.
You run the risk of any lid going out of production at any time. Best bet is to stay with a brand name and hope to hell that parts ar around for a long time.

And the best thing is the doo modular 2 is made by Lazer. So i just removed the brp marks and put on a yamaha stickerDoo Modular 2 here for the past 5 years. I doo have an electric shield but only use it when it's snowing, misting, icing, etc. out. This shield has never fogged on me. I really like the large field of vision and the ability to lower a sunshade.

Best advise I guess is to buy spare shield at time of helmet purchase then don't have to sweat it. I did snag the the black visor button on the door frame of my trailer but that happened during 1st 5 years & part was available. A spare breath box is a must those dang things break at the worst times like at Pat's 125 trail miles from home at night.lolAnd the best thing is the doo modular 2 is made by Lazer. Looking at picking up a new modular helmet for the upcoming season.
I am currently looking at a GMAX GM64 Vortex and the FXR Fuel Modular.
Does anyone have any experience with either helmet or recommend another choice? Are electric shields still worth it or a waste of money?
Appreciate any insight that you can offer,
Cheers,
Chris
I have both a black X-Large GMAX GM64S and a black/white medium FXR Fuel modular helmet for sale. The FXR has an electric shield and seems to fit closer to a Large in size. The GMAX line always seem to fit a bit larger than the size would suggest. The GM64S has a standard snow shield. Both are in near new condition and I don't believe either were ever actually used.

Food for thought. Try them all on if you can as they all fit a little differently on your cheeks. Took the wife helmet shopping and we had to go to three dealerships before she settled on the Fuel. She didn't like the feel of many of the modulars on her cheeks and felt like the Fuel was closest to the older full face helmets she is used too. Prices all seemed to be relatively comparable.
It's new to her, but is a nice piece.

From a parts point the brp mods are hard to beat. They are insanely popular so plenty of used ones around. But they also had some aftermarket parts support to boost part availability. Big problem is the part you break may be systematic and everyone else broke it too.
I'd be more at ease with any mod and longevity than even a 2016 hmax hjc or fxr. Brp will sell in 1 color in 1 size what any other Manf will on an entire mod helmet in all colors and sizes.

I use a Mod 2 when it gets really cold for night riding compared to my open face 509. 5+ people i ride with never have ice issues with non electric, only a little fog if the sunshade is down and you are not moving. On the other hand my dad tried one on at the Novi Show and hated the way it fit on his Jaw so he got a Yami FXR helmet from Port. If the Mod fits you i would highly recommend it and keep extra breath sheets with you.

I don't get the mod. Are you breathing in and out of the storm trooper hole in the front?? I see the foam on the inside closes down and touches your face to make seal.

I tried one of the Mod helmets for one trip. I found that the faster you go, the harder it is to breathe. I will never own another one.

I have the BV2s, my son and son in-law love the GMax 64 as well. Although I like my BV2S for the $ I think the Gmax is the way to go. I got my sons with E shield for 200 $ cant beat that with a stick. Yamadoo

Please explain?.... been rididng with brp mod for 17 years & luv triple digit speed never had any problems breathing at any speed. Only thing that can happen is you can get ice blocks in breathbox tubes but just pop in spare & good for rest of day.I tried one of the Mod helmets for one trip.
