We will have a new louvered inspection plate to test sometime next week. Could I get a couple of guys that are riding already to PM me if they are interested in testing the part. We'll cover shipping, and you are welcome to keep what we send you - just want your feedback.

Thanks, Jim

Testing

I would be interested in testing it as long as it will fit on a mcx apex.

I guess I'm the slow one...... Inspection plate?

With Mcexpress , I don't think that would be necessary at all .With the double intercooler ,and the turbo under the seat , the underhood air is pretty cold already. The snow doesn't even melt on my intercooler . ;)!

My intercooler stayed cool too (MCX) That tunnel precooler must make a big difference. I also run a skidplate, which covers the inspection plate. nice of you to offer it to us to try though, probably work good on the trail setups as it would allow more cold air to enter.

Yeah, the part is designed more for guys running on the flats. I'm singling out the mountain guys right now because they are the only ones with snow, and I want some real world testing.

One of the things we first noticed when developing our kits a few year back was how air-tight these sleds are under the hood. The louvered plate isn't designed to let air in, it is designed to let it out...

plastic the new parts are made of
New ones are plastic??? (I like the idea of aluminum ones for some reason)

EDIT: For durability (impact resistance) I assume ???

We're doing a small run of plastic as a test. The original part it replaces is plastic, and I haven't heard of them failing for anyone...

We still have aluminum in stock.

I might be alittle late to the party here but what about incorporating an oil drain hole into the plastic plate (kinda like an ATV skid plate). I just bought a factory replacement for mine (I didn't even know you made these things!!!).

The louvered plate is an excellent idea..we were just discussing IC airflow this weekend and how the trapped air has to be hurting effeciency..Problem SOLVED!!
