I just bought a pair of Ice Scratchers from Yamaha were do they mount do you have to remove the front outside idler wheel , not to thrilled about that idea.

I've installed the rod type and cable type. Both required drilling holes in the rails. Only reason I removed a wheel was to add a clip to it to hold the rod style.

David :yam:

The clip that held it was on the outside of the wheel. I see alot of the newer styles just hang on the rail.

I have the same issue, I just bought a set of yamaha ice scrachers and I don't know how to install them. What do I have to do to keep the front wheels? Should I return them and get a different set? Any imput of pictures of them installed with the front wheels inplace would be a great help. Thanks John

mount em just behind the wheel in the factory holes. running like this since new hyfax still like new.

funny you should ask. yes it does on full compression. i mounted them like this on advise from someone on s/w. someone actually makes a bump stop to go in this spot to help with bottoming. this works the same way. dont notice it hitting but it doesnt bottom like it did before. changes the spring rate at full compression. dont know where to find the link to the bump stops maybe someone else can chime in. keeps the smooth ride and stops bottoming without having to go to big boy springs. im at least 265 geared up ready to ride..

Yamaha makes the bump stops. They should be standard on Nytro without reverse. I mounted them on mine with reverse. Would mounting scratchers there, be too far back, for a short track?
