I'm finally getting around to installing a charger on my Apex and was wondering how often guys are changing the filter on the charger oil system, the little accourdian looking filter that mounts in the nose. The kit is used and about 3 years old. What are they worth and do I have to get it from MPI (border headaches)? Can I get it local, Cgy or Edm?

So far a straight forward install....oooh this is gunna be good!

Thanks,
Shawn

I was told by mpi change once a season. That rotrex oil is crazy $$. But it is worth every penny, can't wait till snow flies again.

I wonder if anyone has found a less expensive oil replacement for the S/C?

Once you run with boost, you will never run without!!! A small price to pay for the fun factor, you will not stop smiling.

Forget about the turbo. No there isn't a less expensive oil, and don't even think about running anything else. Or you will think 135.00 is dirt cheap compared to a new blower. I think you might get the filter and oil from Daren at E&S in Alberta. Save's with the border #*$&@. If you call MPI before April 16 and tell them you saw them on facebook they will knock off 10% of any orders.

Thanks, I'll try Walt Healy and E&S for a new filter.

I saw on this site, or maybe another, someone had tried another supercharger traction oil and was not able to make full boost with it. Which means the planetary "gears" would be slipping inside the charger and making lots of heat.

I had problems with not making full boost on my rotrex but it was not oil related... gear was spinning on shaft... which I found only after changing the blower.....

I have oil & filters in stock.

Quart of oil: $120

Oil Filter: $36

I can ship both items USPS Priority Mail if you're interested.

MPI sells a kit for around $80.its a pint of oil and a filter.

Just an ordinary transmission/power steering filter. Most trans rebuilders carry them. We use them to filter the return when installing a new/rebuilt transmission. Can even get them at Napa. Same part # and manufacture ( Raybestos) magnafine. I took a double take when I changed the S/C oil on my Apex, I new I have seen that filter before. Had the exact filter in my tool box. 81FLT2 is the 3/8 line part number at Napa. Can't remember the 5/16 part # off the top of my head.
