Over the summer I might change the gearing on my sled. I have the trail turbo and using 21/41 gear setup on my ltx le. All season I've been trying to get the sled tuned in. I find I don't have enough bottom end. I changed from stock because everyone found the stock gearing was too low. Does anyone have any advice on a setup where I can get low end without loosing much top?

Are you sure your not spinning your track and thinking you do not have any low end. I know several guys running non turbos with 21/41 gears in the LTX and they say they did not lose much low end and they gained on the top ends as much as 5 or 6 mph?

It could be mostly spinning track. I'm trying to get some info from others on how the 21/41 worked for them. This sled is so hard to tune because one day of the trails hard an temp is right it's a 115 mph machine but if things aren't perfect 100 mph is it. You might be right on the spining track though. A lot of times people behind me say I'm trenching the trail a lot.

I do know that the LT suspension is much flatter and does not transfer as hard as the XTX to load weight at launch. Back when I first built my 14 and YamahaTim if you remember him had his LTX built by Hauck at the same time as mine mine would leave him by almost 2 sled lengths on launch and he was running the 1.6" ice ripper and I was not studded with my 1.6" at that time. Most of it was due to him spinning on take off.

You could try a PM to Bleedyamaha on here I gave him my 21/41's out of mine when I geared up and he was happy with the results.

Ok thanks. There must be some adjustments to let the weight transfer to the track better.
My machine does have a tun of front grip. But limiter straps are all the way loose.

I am going turbo for next year and found not enough transfer this year with out a turbo. I had my blocks removed to. I modified the transfer system but have yet to try it. It doubled the ski lift in the shop.

You will never get the coupled suspension to transfer like the XTX but yes removing the blocks will help from what I have heard from a few that did it.

But I moved the shaft back 3/4". IMG_20160323_131806.jpg

Joe I can't remember if you had your skid shocks revalved? I had mine done over last summer and my sled launches so much better cause of the transfer to the rear. Now when I sit on my sled it actually squats. I really think this would help you and I also have 144 studs up th gut.

I will look into the re valve. It's hard to find a good suspension shop.

Does removing the blocks cause the skis to lift more ?

Cannondale on here can do them. Carver performance did mine but don't know about shipping

Joe, I have pretty much same sled with same gearing and Mpi Turbo since new. It doesn't lift skis no matter what I've tried....limiter all the way out (factory), rear transfer blocks removed (just the rod), zero preload on front shocks, almost zero preload on center shock, and rear full soft)...standing on the rear running boards....I have 1.63 Triggers down the center (3 per bar) I weight 230 it does transfer some (at night you can see the headlight lift), but trying to pop the front over a knoll nothing, seems hard to get the front end to lighten up at all. What I haven't tried is cranking the center spring up....ran out of snow. I think its mostly the coupled suspension and 137" track. I had a 137 Renegade 4 stroke and it was almost that bad but you could stand on the rear running boards and it would lift skis 2 ft'.

Do you find that it won't hook up if the snows loose at all? I just can't seem to hook up.
