Does or can any one tell me or have pics of what needs to be done to install an MTX rear exchanger on a shorty? 09 RTX.

08 rtx...... gotta get down to the dougnuts and remove the cover plate to the right of the exhaust and some rivets on the tunnel. And get some hose i think its 1 inch hose and put in place of right side rad hose.

There must be a few fittings needed? Or are they already on the sled to spilce in the exchanger? I have one to install but have never seen a MTX around here to look at. Yamaha offers directions if you buy the kit from the dealer, anyone have a copy of that?

Oh yes there are more parts, all pretty straight forward. If you check out the online microfiches of the Nytros, section 62 is the kit you buy from Yamaha. Below is a pic of it.

The difficult part is routing one of the new rad hoses (#74) into place. You have to be cautious not to have it rubbing on the engine and risk melting the hose, it's a pretty tight fit.

I thought I remember an old thread that someone had scanned, which included the install instructions from Yamaha. Try a search for it.

If you buy the Yamaha kit you'll get the directions. I think I still have them but I'll need to do some digging. Here is a post with a few pictures of the install. It took me 2-3 hrs to install the exchanger in my RTX with a trail tank previously installed. I don't remember it being to difficult but as Grimm said the hose routing is a bit tight.
