Much talked about mach z sidewinder race

The Pre production Mach's were running 192 hp on the dyno, you can bet your azz the full production Mach will be tuned to over 200 plus hp better clutched and fined tuned suspension setup, I would lay money that Doo has a newer SRX/ Thunder Cat that they are testing the full production Mach against, Doo didn't reintroduce the new Mach Z to be in second place and bitch slapped by a stock winder, I am a true blue and would love to eat crow on this one but better to be cautious then smack talking about a easy win for the Yamaha winder when the two line up.
LOL!!what do those doo boys pay you? Those electric taiga sleds must be pushing 300hp too I suppose

I believe the annual shootout will be held on December 9th as part of the Old Forge Snodeo. We will see if Doo brings a Mach 1.

love the directions...just like the good ole days lol. sounds like allot of fun!! Joe

If the traction is good at the shootout, the anti-lag on the Mach could give it the edge.
Otherwise I agree that in most snow conditions, it's useless.

I have launch control on my SW and typically have only used it at actual drag races. I also agree that it is rarely an advantage in acceleration but it is definitely very effective as an intimidator!

reading this while waiting for son come out of arena! they got the srx as top dog for 22, out of the 3, for speed n power anyway

The Yamaha Genesis 998t vs 900r?
In stock form should be close, off the line. Once both are drawing in oxygen it won't be.
Modified will achieve more exaggerated results.
Jmho, the 900 powerplant is already pushing thier limits. Crank, rods, Pistons, turbos, etc are in MachZ owner's future. Sadly their $22,000 sled is going to cost much more.
In short & as stated, Skidoo is the second best marketing company on the planet. Next to Harley Davidson.

And like HD, skidoo has a captive audience that ride with blinders on.....

WHAT THE !!! Son Of Ahhhh B*TCH. LOL
T-Cat has taken the top dog the last few years at the Amsnow NY Shootout and now that I bought one the SRX squeezes out the win.
I guess we’ll see come Dec 11th behind the Ole Barn. LOL

Snow condition, track lug height, amount of studs, gearing and other factors have always made for interesting results when lining up against another! But put that lowered height, 1 inch lug track with just the right amount of studs for rolling on that SRX, and stock for stock it will reach higher MPH then any other!
So get ready to push over, if you do jump it out of the hole, stock for stock that is!

Back in the day when they ran 1/4 mile, the 1998 Tcat 1000 ran 110mph bone stock at the shootout. I think the Mach Z broke about 101 mph that year. Studded, geared, and clutched right, I'd bet the old triple would run with the new iron in 1000 ft. The old chassis was better for drag racing since it did not have much travel. I expect the new Tcat or the new SRX to record a better speed than the new Mach as well. Not sure the Tcat will have the clutches dialed in with the new clutches but the SRX should have a good set up ready to go. The shootout will be fun if the weather cooperates.

Traction is terriable by time they get to them. They run 600-850 (2 runs each sled back to back with slight cooldown and line prep) then the turbo sleds. Precision brought a 1200 turbo (aftermarket class) with I think they said 80-10,000 kit on the sled. Made a good pass. Second pass they tried to go faster and used launch control, big disaster. Some sleds overhook an stand in back bumper others just do a big ole 1000’ burnout.

They do allow dealer to stud them for the sled, but question is will skidoo be allowed since it comes with 96 studs from factory which it’s obviously saying that’s all it needs.
