Much talked about mach z sidewinder race

Winder vs. Apex again huh?

Well not quite... Same source, same scales used by AmSnow Magazine over the years. (Real World, Real Weights, all full of fuel and fluids just like they get ridden) Some machine had stud packages some did not.

2017 Winder LTX-LE with studs Full of fluids and fuel. #671

2007 Attak, bare track no studs Full of fluids and fuel. #691

2011 Apex XTX w/power steering, with studs Full of fluids and fuel. #717

None the less, ALL these Yamaha's and Cats are heavy, much heavier than the Doo Four-Strokes are for sure. Thats one place they need to work on harder. Get the weights down to where the Doo's 900 turbos are at.
If I'm not mistaken, the Winder holds a bit more fuel too.

I think the mach will be a bit heavier then the old Renegade with the smart shocks on it as well. Not that big of a weight difference between the winder and the mach

NO WAY! Ask any Doo guy the sidewinder is like 100 pounds more! Ever talk to a Doo guy its guaranteed they will have a story about how heavy Sidewinders are.. "had to help a guy on the trail with a stuck sidewinder" "man those things are heavy" !! LOL.

@ROCKERDAN calls the winder "ultra heavy" over on the mini z forum.
I can't wait for the shootout!!! IMO, I am expecting the TCAT/SRX to lose in a 1000FT race. DOO has had 4 years to address the Winder or TCAT. I cant wait to see the weights, because I believe they will be within 30lbs of each other, which does NOT mean #*$&@. Precision already dynode it at 192 hp 129.4 lbs 7795 rpm standard correction. So, they are down about 10hp to the 998, but it will be about how the boost is built after engagement and how it spools up. Will see what Jim's dyno puts out on it. Weight transfer should be better on the G4. Time will tell....

All in all, the Mach Z appears to be a great touring platform. I'm happy for them.
Cant wait to spill off the trail onto a lake with one waiting for me....and I know exactly where to head. Lol....

I wouldn’t be surprised they win the shootout but in reality how many Winders and TCats are stock vs tuned? It seems almost everyone I know that owns them have a decent tune on them, so in the real world they will puff out their chest, line up with a Winder/TCat and get humiliated. Good humor!!

Every guy I meet with a Turbo Tcat or Winder on Kevlar Lake claims they are bone stock.....LOL

My reply to the first Mach Z driver who asks to line up with my '21 SRX SideWinder:
"Remember you wanted this."

Only about half in my area.

Keep in mind that this lineup is between OEM real world STOCK machines not tuned, seems like lots of opinions are based on tuned Winders which do not count, now.. take a old so outdated turbo tuned heavy Apex tank and a tuned Winder in a 1000ft strip would be interesting, both being 998 turbo's. hmm:dunno:

A sidewinder tune is around 500$. And requires 0 mechanical skills or knowledge to have installed. It will also still go 200km on a tank of fuel is very reliable and trailable. The average joe isn't gonna throw thousands of dollars/ hours of work for a trail sled. It's just not apples to apples. Loved my 2012 apex but not the same ride wise and wasn't 500 or 1500$ to get 270-300 hp out of it.

Yep, tech has come along way to gain easy inexpensive power, getting the high tech chips are now a problem in the auto and powersport world it seems though, not sure what the future holds on this issue.
