Competition is good! I cant stand the looks BUT this may nudge yamacat. This might be a good thing if the Mighty Mach gives the Winder a run for its money.. Personally I don't care one way or another.. I like to ride. I don't line up on the lakes all day.. I like to run @ Bents camp(radar) for FUN. If OCD shows in the UP with a yellow sled so be it!

Keep in mind that this lineup is between OEM real world STOCK machines not tuned, seems like lots of opinions are based on tuned Winders which do not count, now.. take a old so outdated turbo tuned heavy Apex tank and a tuned Winder in a 1000ft strip would be interesting, both being 998 turbo's. hmm
20/80...Why do you keep commenting in the SideWinder forum? You don't own one. You have nothing positive to contribute here. You seem to be holding on to hope that Yamaha will someday resurrect the Apex. Guess what? Not going to happen.
Please we beg you...
stevewithOCD however gets it and his comments are welcome and appreciated!

There are other variables of course but if the Mach is 190hp (?) stock and 70lbs lighter, should be a good race with the stock 998.Nope.
It was 192.5 then they put old 900T muffler on & it was 184.6
Then they put downpipe with holes & it was 188 with old muff
Then they put the new muff back on with their downpipe & got 194.6
The boost read 16.3 and we're told it will be 17.3
The Doo actually has a break-in MODE that nobody can confirm if they did it or not.
If it's like the 2-stroke it goes by gas tanks, miles & time
If they did then it's 192 hp
If they didn't then expect 200

I was on a Yamaha and on this form way before you... So there is no way I am a TROLL AND I HAVE NEVER WENT ON THE APEX FORM AND DUMPED ON IT!!!I do and many others, Talk about Trolls, your a pure Cat guy not even VIP that has alot to say about Yamaha's.

If you guys keep telling people to buy something else, Cat will end up closing it's doors and ruin snowmobiling for you. That attitude is why out of every 100 snowmobiles that sell, only 3 of them have yamaha stickers. The cat chassis hides the weight well. But there must be some reason why the market share keeps dwindling. I would imagine weight may play a role in addition to poor quality control and engineering issues that seem to never get addressed. Polaris is winning the weight competition pretty handily and it has ate up ski doo's market domination in 2 strokes caused by the rev chassis. So it makes sense that weight gets brought up a lot.baaahaa, very true best way forca winder to trim weight is the rider!!, the weight of yamaha sleds is getting old , thats all i herd about my apex when i had it from doo riding buddies, and now with the winder, i say who cares theclittle extra weight dont bother me never has, its minimal to me in the big picture, if someone can't handle a big boy sled sell it and ask ur wife to use hers! to me steering away from a yamaha because of weight is like sayin i didn't buy a lambo because i couldn't get it in the color i want!

The 998t would be pretty cool in a Apex, wouldn't have the ride the winder has but pretty cool just the same.20/80 has a grudge due to the fact that the Apex didn't get the 998 turbo engine in it.
All this bashing is his way of telling us he wants one.

I'd rather see the APEX motor in the Winder chassis

I agree the Apex chassis was only so so back in its day, drop a NA Apex motor with power steering in the pro cross chassis and would be a great combo for the elderly or those that just like to cruise.I'd rather see the APEX motor in the Winder chassis

If OCD shows up in the UP on a yellow sled I will go find him just to blow some snow off the corners with him!
I hate Yellow & Green (unless it's Camo)
My sled is ALL Black with Blue shock covers. LOL
The best part of all this is it has some CHATTER here!
This site needs some excitement.
LET's be HONEST HERE:
It will be a 195 hp sled against a 200 hp sled.
MOST stock Winders, if not touched, probably are in the 190 hp range due to some leak anyways.
My sled "Woke Up" after i glued & re-clamped every single intake & exhaust joint. That means i was NOT running to my full potential.
SAME problem may occur with the 900R.
There are reports of the hose coming off the throttle body on the T's. Not sure if they fixed that on the R.
My buds 195 tuned T will run neck & neck with a STOCK Winder right to 100ish when the Winder will crawl away.
As a matter of fact, it usually won to 100.
We ran maybe 50 runs. Swapped riders, Same results.
With some clutching & a gear change, WHO KNOWS...............WHO CARES...............it's all FUN!
P.S: Since i was on a 600 i was the flag boy so i saw every race front row
P.S2: The 2007 Apex RTX with 196 studs won the first 500' every race
P.S3: When i show up to the UP i'll give everybody a hug.....................and maybe a SkiDoo Coffee mug. LOL

I bet that was fun! And maybe your OCD brain was thinking "I wonder where I would finish in this race on a winder"?P.S: Since i was on a 600 i was the flag boy so i saw every race front row
Always looking for snowmobile "stuff" for the cabin! Hell I made clutchmaster drink form a arctic cat coffee mug/ all the others were "dirty".
