I think you guys are wrong on everyone has a tune winder or TCAT. Most of the dealers I talked to around here know of maybe one or 2 that are tuned for every 30 that are sold. Its not as many as everyone thinks...

I just break balls, but of the maybe 20 998's i know, only 3 are stock.

OK here's my $.02
First of all let's talk stock to stock equally studded. Cuz even modded Winders can get beat by MORE modded Winders.
Let's forget the Launch Control also cuz that takes specific studding & conditions.
The 900R Dynoed at 192, but we don't know if the "Break-In" was done or not.
Looks like there was another psi left out.
If this 900R gets that 1 more psi, will it be 200hp? WHO KNOWS
How good is the PEFI Dyno? WHO KNOWS

I KNOW THIS:
I weighed my new 900R full of gas & compared to my old Winder. Mach maybe heavier also due to shocks.
Both as equal as can be.
YES the Winder has an extra gallon and it was 72 pounds heavier.
I also used the HURRICANE speed calculator & i think the 900R should top out at 115ish maybe 119 if lucky.
That should put the Winder ahead on the Big End.
My first Winder topped out at 121 with ECOTRAIL. My 2nd Winder heavily tuned topped at 115, Ask FLEECER. He'll vouch for that.

IF the new R is 200 hp (and that's a BIG IF) does anyone here actually believe that a sled 70 lbs heavier with same horsepower is going to "BLOW AWAY" the other guy?
Is this an 1/8th mile race? 1/4 mile? Across the lake?

P.S: FLEECER doesn't count cuz he has 300 hp SRX geared for 150mph. But i'll be there after Xmas

Precision just did a dyno video and they dyno at 185 stock, just over 190 with exhaust/down pipe installed.

Some on here have done it for MILES! Not me. We have things called Deer that sometimes jump out on trails.

The Mach has already been picked up.

baaahaa, very true best way forca winder to trim weight is the rider!!, the weight of yamaha sleds is getting old , thats all i herd about my apex when i had it from doo riding buddies, and now with the winder, i say who cares theclittle extra weight dont bother me never has, its minimal to me in the big picture, if someone can't handle a big boy sled sell it and ask ur wife to use hers! to me steering away from a yamaha because of weight is like sayin i didn't buy a lambo because i couldn't get it in the color i want!

Whenever somebody tries to bug me about the weight of a winder, I tell them to go and pick up thier sled..... Which they can't lift any higher than they can mine.... They are all heavy lol

Nope.
It was 192.5 then they put old 900T muffler on & it was 184.6
Then they put downpipe with holes & it was 188 with old muff
Then they put the new muff back on with their downpipe & got 194.6
The boost read 16.3 and we're told it will be 17.3
The Doo actually has a break-in MODE that nobody can confirm if they did it or not.
If it's like the 2-stroke it goes by gas tanks, miles & time
If they did then it's 192 hp
If they didn't then expect 200

I do and many others, Talk about Trolls, your a pure Cat guy not even VIP that has alot to say about Yamaha's.

There is an Apex forum you can go to talk all about the Apex's and even bash the Winders, you should go check it out. It does get old the continual bashing of the Cat/Winder. We know its not a Japan built Yamaha and we're fine with that. Lots of us here used to have them, we know what there all about already.

And the Winder is a Cat in case you didn't realize it. Nothing wrong with the Cat riders here as they are one and the same machine other than the colors. I think everyone here knows you don't like them already. A little elbow jabbing is one thing, but you've gone above an beyond and no one here appreciates it any longer. Might be best to just stick to the Apex forum.

Like i said, the gearing alone won't let the new 900 beat the Winder, but you can feel the tension here. Lol
I have BLUE shock covers and a TY sticker on my windshield

I get it may be close in stock trim in 1000’ or less if they are capable of using launch control. But aside from being butt ugly it really is as tapped out as it can be for any reasonable budget. And I’m still saying it’s 185-190 hp range. This “break in mode” everyone talks about like it will have 30 more hp is just insulting to any intelligence. I get they are trying to make it sound better because they aren’t 205-210 like a sidewinder so I guess they can enjoy their dilutions

Sounds like good advise, have nothing against the Winder motor its pure Yamaha at its best, and i'm aware that that Yamaha is running painted Cats, thanks, sorry that I am a true blue and run a pure Yamaha offends you, and the fact I comment on the Total Yamaha sites that I help support, Cat has a forum too that probably needs some support.

20/80 has a grudge due to the fact that the Apex didn't get the 998 turbo engine in it.
All this bashing is his way of telling us he wants one.
