I said I wouldn't buy another non EPS Apex but I just stumbled across a smoking deal on a 2006 RTX with 3,000 miles. I ride aggressive trail so here is what I'm thinking it will need:

Monoshock beef up
Pioneer shock revalve
13mm Sway Bar
Pilot skis

Can the monoshock handle aggressive trail riding? I'm used to the proactive CK which was somewhat durable for me. Is the 06 geared lower like the 07?

I believe the 06's where not geared lower

Instead of putting Pulot skis on, put on a set of Kimpex Arrows or Tuners. They are more aggressive and turn just as easy as the Pilots.

Our 06 RTX will out run our 07 RTX on top in by 10 mph but the 13 Apex is the fastest of all 3 but like I have said before I prefer to ride the 07,

I don't know if you can get the beef up kit done anymore.

Does the 06 have a stiff seat like the 07?

The rtx has the stiff seat. The front swing arm needs to be beefed or changed out to the newer part # 08 or 09 can't remember. From what I've read I think the Hygear set up is probably the best. I've revalved my shock twice and with heavier spring I'm still not happy. Snowtrackers or Kimpex Arrows. I run the 13mm bar and works good Suck up the limiter strap 1 hole and transfer to almost min. and it will rock the trails.

No, The seat on our 06 is a lot softer, that's one of the reason I like the 07 because of the stiffer seat.

I'm going to pass on the sled. After 15,000 miles on Apex's is time for something different. Might try a Nytro next year or maybe even a AC Crossfire.

Million pounds lighter really? and made out of junk scrape metal!

I've had a 2006 RTX and a Crossfire R8 this year. The Crossfire is about a million pounds lighter.
