Hi all new to forum, I purchased a new VK this past December and have put 1500 km so far and am a little frustrated. She has been dependable and starts every time but to ride, very tippy. I have made adjustments to front suspension (tightened 2 notches)as it was on its softest setting from factory and I have softened the skid shock 2 notches as well. These changes have made her less tippy but still not grate, when I go down the lake at around 50-60 kph on semi packed trail almost feels uncontrollable and tippy but when I get her going on the lake with virgin snow great!! Not sure what to do here maybe my adjustments are off. Any help would be great.

welcome to the site.
most yamahas prefer to have the a-arms parallel to the ground on the front suspension whitch can help. there is also a swaybar kit a site member has made for the vk as they did not come with one from the factory.

Thanks for the reply when I tightened up the front shocks the sled became a little less tippy but really rough ride now. It is almost like a love hate relationship but I still think it should handle a little better

Hi, I am new on this forum, but I saw that you had problems with Your unstable RS VK. Here in Norway we have modified the front arms so the become 3" longer on each side. This totally changes the stability. Now Yamaha have made a small braket for the shock/spring support so that you can use standard Apex arms. This also makes it 6" wider total and makes it very stabil. Try to ask your Yamaha dealer to find this bracket for tha Apex arms.
Excuse my poor English.

Hi again,
I found a add in Norway with this old way of doing it. Called the "Geilo Edition" from the Place Geilo where they invented this system. This RS Viking is 3" wider on each side. You can see the "old" holes before adding 3".

The Apex way is better and cost less. Here in Norway the Apex kit costs about 700,- USD.

Moving the spacer on each ski to increase distance between ski's helps a little. I'm up in Red Lake also.

I had the same problems with my vk pro on packed trails making it want to dart around uncontollably and feeling very tippy. I put a set of woody's 4 inch dual carbides on last week and took it to the cabin........what a huge difference. Now I can fly down the trails and it feels stable. It is still tippy feeling in the corners so I am interested to see if you have any luck fixing yours.
Not sure if this would help you but thought I would mention it , it made one hell of a difference on mine!

Hi guys just an update to this post from last season. I moved the spacers on my ski's, put the front suspension back to factory settings and softened the shock on my skid two notches. Made some improvement, not as tippy due to softening skid shock and ski's a little bit wider, we will see after I put some miles on her. Hope you all have a great season
