hi guys. new here but a regular on ty and hcs. i just picked up an 06 attak (162 studs and 05 mtn skis with 10" carbides). im coming off a viper and this thing is going to be a bit tippy feeling for me. i will widen the stance 1" with the skis, but what swaybar works good? 12mm or 13mm? i have read that some people thought the 13mm made it handle bad in the rough stuff, care to elaborate? thanks!

I was totally uncomfortable with the handling at first with the Attak. After getting in 200 miles I felt I knew the sled a lot better and have adjusted. I think the stock skis and or carbides suck compared to my precision skis on my skidoo. My future plan involves new skis, and PioneerPerformance.net 45" a-arms and 13mm sway bar. I've read good things in here about this setup.

I studded my Attak before I even took it out on the trails. It felt tippy to me also. A buddy of mine had bought a GT and didnt' stud it on our 1st trip.. he loved it. Best sled he'd ever ridden. Cornered like a sled should. I had my RX-1 on that trip. So he studs his GT same day I stud my Attak. Get them both out on the trails.. mine feels tippy and he says his sled is total garbage and wanted to run it into a tree. Handled like #*$&@. Somebody had mentioned to us about moving the transfer rod 2 notches toward MIN. He does it at one of the stop signs on teh trail. Bingo. Now his GT was on a rail again. So I get out my tools and muscle that locknut loose (what kind of sumo wrestler put that thing on I will never know) and I move mine 2 nothces toward min. Wow.. night and day difference. No more ski lift and it doesn't feel tippy at all anymore. I was going to go with a bigger sway bar until my buddy who is crew chief on a sno-x team told me all the effects that will have on ride quality. Not all good. Even with my transfer rod 2 nothces toward min.. if I hammer it on a road or something, it still hooks like a monster and takes off. Try it on yours and see what happens.

I'm 6'1" / 240#, I've got my Attak dialed in real nice:
Front Springs: Length = 1/4" less than nominal, don't have the length handy but my dealer set the length so the collar was half-way up the threads & I spun the collar 1/4" down from half-way up the threads, I can provide a spring length if needed.
Rear Spring: Clip moved to position one (hardest setting). Cam adjusted to #4, RA set mid way between hard / soft.
Woody's Dooly's carbides.
No studs but will soon be adding them.
Handling is near perfect.
Bump absorbtion ok but does bottom on the worst of situations.
She now handles as well as my buddy's RTX & way out-handles Ski Doo Revs.
Let me know if you'd like the length of the front springs or if you'd like any more hints.

Actaully, I should clarify. The sled was originally set to 1/2-way between full & min. I then split that so I guess it would be considered 1/4 towards min. Still not awake yet, guess I better drink some coffee.

I rode a buddies Attak with this installed and did not like it! It made my hands tingle from the vibration it transfered up to the handlebars. Made no sense to me. It also made the steering seem really hard. Another buddy tried it and said the same thing.

Depends on where you ride,Trails or Cross country open feilds. My Attak was the tippest sled I rode in 25 years till I put on a 13mm rod and set transfer rod with a little less transfer.I ride open fields and it is 90% better then the 11mm rod.I like the transfer set as much as possable to keep the front up out of the snow and better traction. On trails I'm sure the transfer should be set to the middle or there abouts. The 13mm lets you feel the rough alittle more but WAY more stable!

thanks for the tips so far guys. im only 170lbs, so im thinking it will be stiff enough for me. so reduce transfer, loosen the front springs a bit and install a 12mm bar. sound good?

I had the fox floats on my attak when i did not have my 13mm bar on,so i couldnot compare the two mods togeather, now i still have the 13mm on and back to stock shocks and on the little bit of riding i have been able to do so far it has helped, but i also have doo skis on, that i had on my 03 rx1 and they are like simmons in the respect that they track straight as an arrow,no darting around and it lowers the front end and widen the stance for better stability.

alright i ordered the 12 mm pioneer bar. bruce said it makes a pretty good difference. he said he hasnt had any problems with the 13mm bar but has heard of some people that didnt like it.

Ive got the 13mm bar and LOVE IT.. But i have a GT and i loosened the compression alot on the front shocks and it doesnt make my hands tingle at all!

If you ride hard the 13mm bar is a must.. a 12mm bar would be smooter on the rough stuff !
