So I have to potential to get a 2011 Apex (short track, not the xtx) with 3300 miles in excellent shape for $3000 cash plus giving the guy my 2006 Apex GT with 9500 miles that is also in perfect shape with Simmons skis. (I just dumped $1000 in new parts into my 2006 apex of the summer, all new bogie wheels, DuPont slides, new drive shaft, new jackshaft spedo and chaincase bearings, oil change and chaincase oil, new plugs, new starer solenoid, new front end bronze bushings, new battery, ect.) My question is that a good deal for me or am I better off running my 2006 Apex instead of upgrading. Guy wants to go the deal tomorrow so whatever input you have would be much appricated. (I do have a 2012 Vector ltx so i know how the power steering handles)

That seems a little high to me. Yours is worth about what $6000? so paying $9k for a 11? The powersteering and extra power would be awesome but I bet you will have to take some of those upgrades you just did and do them to the new one. 3300 miles pending previous maint will require some new parts and TLC.

Thanks for the input . I'm from New Hampshire and similar 06 GT's with the same mileage as mine are going for 3-4K on Craigslist. I don't think I could get 6K for mine. I think if I got 4000 I would be doing pretty good. That seems a little high to me. Yours is worth about what $6000? so paying $9k for a 11? 3 Grand for a 5 year upgrade sounds pretty good to me. 2011 is much more responsive than your GT and you already know how much the power steering changes the experience. As long as it hasn't been bashed or abused, sounds pretty good! I guess its not an SE so shocks shouldn't need re-build yet, donuts should be OK & if greased regularily bushings should be fine. Good luck!

It defiantly wasn't abused. Its was just fully serviced by the dealer and it has new DuPont slides.3 Grand for a 5 year upgrade sounds pretty good to me. 2011 is much more responsive than your GT and you already know how much the power steering changes the experience. My experience with trading in at a dealer is, if you can trade for $1,000 per model year difference out the door, you are doing pretty good. Going up 5 years for $3k is a good deal even if you dumped money into your old one, which you never really get back dollar for dollar anyway. Several items have been addressed on the 11 such as extrovert drivers and grease zerks in the front swing arms. You can check my sig for my upgrades, but for sure you are going to want dupont slides and decent carbides if not already on it (Snowtrackers). Other than usual wear items in the skid, and condition of the track, should be a solid deal imho. Check exup valve position, this sled hauls the mail when set up properly, mid-range pull is addicting.
Good luck.

I know the 2011 the guy wants to trade me for has brand new DuPont slides and I have a brand new set of tuner skis in my garage I can throw on the sled. I agree with you regarding the upgrades on the newer models. I really think they fixed alot of the bugs on the newer apexs (exhaust donuts. grease fitting, replaceable bogie wheel bearings

Most of us 11+ Apex EXUP riders are kind of in the same predicament, not happy with the Titanium construction, a ticking time bomb really. I think the key is to keep a close eye on the donuts/clamps, do a exhaust block off test to see if anything is leaking.
Hope a cheaper direct replacement comes out, as replacing the EXUP assembly with a new one is really out of the question unless you catch it in time, spend a bunch of money on a proper weld job, or a used EXUP, but at best a used EXUP will be half price of new.
Guess if it were me, I would make a condition of sale/trade that you take the 11 down and have a real good look at the EXUP, donuts and pipes to ensure they are not cracked or deteriorating so at least you know this is not an issue right now. One good thing about the 11's is getting down to the exhaust for the inspection can be done in under an hour.
Cheers.

I'm starting to get shaky now with all these comments on the exup exhaust. My best friend has a 2011 xtx with 10K miles and he hasn't had any exhaust problems. We do mostly groomed trail 200+ mile days though and the sleds don't take a pounding. Most of us 11+ Apex EXUP riders are kind of in the same predicament, not happy with the Titanium construction, a ticking time bomb really. Just saying that could be one potential issue you should protect yourself from a major expense down the road ( ....ounce of prevention.......worth a pound of cure!)
I have lots of miles on my 11, everything is still sound, I replaced donuts after noticing an exhaust leak, caught in time imo, but there have been a few pipes that crack for whatever reason, titanium is not forgiving like stainless.

I dont really think the 2011 is worth anything really over the older style. My buddy bought one for his wife and after 1 season riding it he sold his Apex and hers and bought 2 Vipers. It sounds like you take care of your sled and with some minor mods you can keep up with the 2011. It really depends on in 3 or 4 more years will you be looking for another sled? THe newer one will bring more private sale and trade in. I think you are close about the vlaue of your sled. I would sell mine for 6K an a heartbeat. I think in really good shape they might be worth 4500 with 9000 miles. People are still comparing them to 2 strokes which are all but dead by 9K Just my opinion though
I have an '11 with 3500 miles on it and love it. I was thinking $3500-$4000 for yours...this seems like a good deal to me. I would jump on it as long as it's in nice shape. You'll love the power steering...especially your back!

Are you running studs on your 128 ? If so, how is the traction?
Yes, studded....traction is great
