I took the pro action suspension out of my 03 rx1 and i found that the bottom spring retainer of the front shock of the rear suspension is broken. Yamaha does not list this retainer they say i need the whole shock assembly. can anyone help? this retainer is a piece of metal that the spring sits on thanks

I had this very problem with 2 shocks, the original 03 shock and one from an 04. But this time it chewed the bottom of the eyelet out of the shock. So my resolution on the problem is replacing the entire skid to a mono suspension. I am getting tired of the retainer killing the shocks. I also found the bracket holding the front rear shock in place bent. The the entire skid is gone. i have nothing but bad to say about the pro-active skid. I played with this skid so much getting it to transfer weight and it just does not respond to want my needs are. Don't get me wrong once tuned right, it rides good in the shutter bumps, once you see bigger bumps coming forget, your going to get pounded.
Also the work you need to do to install the skid when service it is absolutely rediculous. The mono skid may be a better out or not testing will find out. From what I have gathered from reading id the mono is a lot more friendly to transfering weight and out rides the proactive skid. You Might want to look into changing the rear skid altogether. AD Bovin ZX2 is a great choice. That what i was looking at until I got this mono dirt cheap almost new yet. Good luck
