Hey guys.

Just wondering what is everyone running for clutching or if someone has some ideas for me. I have Ulmers kit, hes just so hard to get ahold of this time of year so ill try here first.

I have an RTX - ripsaw with 144 studs down the middle. K and Ns, full exhaust, PCV with ulmer map. Have ulmers clutch kit too.

His setup - OPO spring, tungsten insert and 2 washers heel, 1 washer mid,. tip 2 washers. Silver secondary spring, 90* wrap with H helix.

I was hitting the rev limiter in hard pack, so I added 3.5 grams to the tip, and it was still over revving. no limited but over 9300 rpm. Felt like the sled was just revving with not much pull. To cruise over 60 mph felt like I had to give a lot of throttle.

I changed the wrap on the secondary to 70* and seems to be almost perfect now. Revs to 9100ish, nice steady pull. Wheelies all day, definitely much better pull. I can cruise at 60-80 mph with less than half throttle. My only problem is once I hit 155 kph on the speedo, (95 mph) it losses rpm. Drops down to 8600-8700 and wont pull anymore speed.

Do I have the wrong helix maybe, need less finish angle? or am I just hoping for too much and that's all she has?
Just feels like Im leaving something on the table with losing rpms like that top end.

I know its a bit of a long read, but if anyone has any tips for me, I would really appreciate it. I have some drag races coming up in my area and need to be ready.

thanks

I'd try 80 wrap and move some weight from the tip to the mid.

Did it ever work right from when the clutching was installed, or is this something that just happened over time? Reason being I've had a primary spring go soft and would pull good RPM until I got close to full shift and the RPM would then drop off. Changed out the primary for a new one and everything worked good after. Just an idea.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Ill try the wrap at 80 first and move some weight, see what happens with that. I just didn't wanna mess with anything too much because it runs so well now except for the rpm drop off.

I was thinking the primary spring might be weak too, because I bought the kit used, but wouldn't the primary be fully shifted out at 90+ mph?

It only started doing it when I changed the secondary wrap. Before that it was banging the rev limiter at 60-80 mph if I was WOT.

That's why I was thinking secondary. And my rpm is good from off the line until 85-90.

You've got the wrong helix for your setup. The "H" helix is for a 1.5 or taller lug track. You need a "K" helix. I have them on hand and can get you setup. Call tomorrow or if you've left a message I will try to return it tomorrow.
