New 06 Apex owner

I'd ride it first I have 23 top gear in lots of good information on it just use the search feature in top right corner. Overall corner to corner in my opinion 23 top gear is best. I did run 97&99 mph on gun last season in 1000 feet running a 23 top gear. Those numbers are are not record setting numbers by any means but I feel there great for a trail sled.

I also agree about the cooler I'd skip it get some ice scratchers and if you would happen to over heat pull over toss some snow on the running boards drop scratchers and go.

As far as clutching it I do have a used ulmer kit I'm going to be removing I plan on going a different direction pm me if interested in. It will be posted after removing it in classifieds on this site.

I run triple points on stock skis and love them. I have tried duals loved those as well but my trailer didn't seem to. I do have a set of snow trackers as well these are reserved for riding with the boys there very responsive and leave you riding a bit faster in each corner they have a fun factor.

Suspension without riding sled I can't say this enough revalve rear shock at minimum period. I waited way to long however one day after a TY/demo ride I talked to the right person in the parking lot. I went with the big spring as I'm 240ish with gear and had shock revalve done as well. I had close to 7k on sled at this point. WRP seat should be on the to do list as well.

Exhaust all I got is :drink:you will find plenty of information on here about this. Just do the exhaust stall test and go from there.

I finally broke down this season and installed DuPont slides. In the past I've always changed them during fall prep just because.

Storage jackshaft and driveshaft need to be regressed.

You have come to the right place welcome :welc:

If you have little to no seat time ride it first. These 4cyl. sleds have so much power stock, your arms at the end of a ride will be an inch longer.
I have 5350 miles on my Apex, the only thing that has been done is a left handwarmer, battery, oil changes, oh and a couple skid wheels and that's it.

I did upgrade to a tall windshield, Rock's HID lights, LED lights for my handguards, mirrors, dual carbides (darting gone 100%) and 96 studs down the middle of the track. The Hyfax is original and still looks good.

Wow great info ! Thanks I did the stall test and it dies in like 5 seconds , I got maybe one good ride left this season tommarow , so I'll ride her like she sits and then summer time is project time

I do that when driving anything even my truck lol As in what ? Where it peaks or where it normally runs ? I hear these things do like 10,800 !!
Yes yes and yes. When you come out of the hole what is it? Dose it drop what is it? Dose it climb back up what is it? What are final/peak at wide open. Don't worry about speedo speeds as they are off.

I'm sure I'll be worried about my arms ripping off and watching the tack instead of my new land speed record lol..I'll keep an eye on it . Anythinng specific to watch for? Should it run like a two stroke ? Peak then hold ? Or does it drop once the secondary goes into "high"?

Depending upon setup and traction some drop some stay close to where they should be. After I got mine dialed it might drop 3-400 rpm's then come back up to peak. Conditions are a big factor. On a hard pack if I get good traction it stays and dosent drop off. Enjoy your ride.

You will get use to the arm stretching and some day want a tad more. With over 10k plus miles of smiles on my sled and the sidewinder craze getting the best of me Iv seriously been been thinking about adding a turbo to my Apex.

I'l be watching the tack tommaroe but I'll only have a few hours to listen and learn.... I got home early tonight just to do a check over real quick before I go tommaroe fluids and what not .... one thing ... working on and getting to #*$&@ on these looks to be ridiculous... that' compared to my 02 mxz where I could pull the motor and drive train in like 3 hours ... looks like it' gonna take me that long to get to the damn oil filter .... this is all new to me , I'm used to the old pre "rev" chassis , open the hood and it's all there

No wonder u call them apes .. this thing runs like a raped ape ... Its Awsome , so much pull !! Then Tourque spin ! But Once it hooks .. wow !! Sadly I only got to ride for maybe an two hours and next week is 45 and rain !!! It's over .. I got a nice lil taste of what this thing does ,and I've been grinning the whole way , I've got some time this summer to do a real good check over , replace /enhance .. ect ..my ride got cut short by some shitty circumstances, but I checked .. coolant is dark dark green ... 100% gycol, idiots.. dump that , stall test said donuts are good .... But I think I'll do them now instead half way threw next season .. deff an oil change / chain case service , plugs , handwarmers , prolly hyfax ,all topped with a healthy coat of wd-40 and some collinite wax....

We had a great day on the hill yesterday. Did 90 miles from Barrows to tabolt corners, the gorge ,flat rock, Montague,up to Barnes corners for lunch at tuggers. Took all side trails and they were flat and fast. Got her up to 96mph a couple times before the corners come flying towards you. The early bird gets the worm this time of year. Trails were beat by 2pm. My last real ride of the season. My Apes got 13010 miles. 1100 this season. She's all set to ride next year thanks to the late season problems I had. Once you take it apart afew times you'll find that it gets easy. Don't try to work around anything . Just remove it.

That's awesome ! I heard rumor it was pretty beat in some spots , i never made it north as a teenager on a cell phone totaled my truck !!! it looked to be the perfect day too , I'm sure everyone was out .. it was the last weekend.. I got a late start to the season anyway . I'm kinda pissed but , it is what it is.. I've got 8 months to prep for next season , and I'll be like little Caesars.... Hot n ready !!
