So, first time out on the new machine up in Maine. Very happy with the sled but need to get this darting gone. Will dual carbides cure this on their own or will I need to pull up the limiter straps as well? 6" or 8" duals? How many holes up on the straps if necessary? Don't want to get into new skis if I don't have to, but if if it's the only way to go, brand and part number? And if i go with an aftermarket ski, do I still need dual runners and if so how do I find the part number? Thanks in advance guys!

The only thing that solves the problem completely and bites in the corner's is Snowtracker's!!!!! Royal Distributor's sells them. They look ugly but just put them on and you will be amazed.

Taken - I have owned 6 Apex's, tried the shimming thing, helps but not good enough for me. Tried the sno trackers, work great but way too expensive IMO, some guys are saying they bite too hard on the 2011's??? Tried duallies, helped but again, not enough. Only thing I run now is Simmons Flexi-Skis Generation 1. Best all aroung ski IMO, I currentley own 3 apex's, all have Simmons. They run around $400. Good Luck.

I have a 2011 Apex SE.
Myself and another member here tested countless things and combinations. [shims, Dartless, various runners, various dual runners, Extreme Snow Trackers, different ski's etc etc ]
Cheapest solution and almost best solution is Semi Aggressive Snow Trackers on your factory ski's [about $200.00] and limiter strap up one hole.
Dualies and shimming get rid of tracking but push.
Best solution is previous Generation of stock ski's and Extreme Snow Trackers but you are into serious money.

I also love Simmons skis on my APex. I will say though, that my father has snow trackers on his vector and they work great.

Thanks guys. Lots of options I guess. It seems the cheapest and easiest would be the 8" duals and the straps up a notch. It's just the wife and I so no aggressive riding. Just want the darting gone. Less concerned about the cornering. Thanks for the help!

I agree with Riceburner, got 2,800kms out of the Semi's and work awsome. I just installed the agressive ones and have yet to try on my 2011. I preferred the agressive on my 2006 but ski design has changed. Another member had done extensive testing with both and found the agressive ones to be scarey in some conditions. I will see for myself this weekend! These things transform the sled like you wont believe, yes they are pricey but worth every penny. In my expierience the agressive snowtrackers last 4-5000kms, semi's 25-3000kms. Good luck!

I have the semi-aggressive Snow Trackers on my 2011 SE. Its like driving your car along the highway. Expensive...yes, but how much will you spend experimenting with various other carbides and skis until you settle on the Snow Trackers?

The new skis are better than the old skis on the 2011, but still dart. I have ridden a lot of different sleds with different skis and found that the ONLY way to eliminate darting is by adding duallies. I installed a set of
Curve skis which also helped with darting and riding up on top of snow better than the standard skis. I did get a slight amount of darting from the Curve skis, but added duallies to them and eliminated darting totally.
It took away a little from the positive steering that you get with Curve skis, but I have changed the way I enters corners and I don't have an understeering problem.

Make sure you go with a Stud boy deuce bar. We did some testing with the woody's and they shaved 13 MPH off the sled. Did a test right on the trail. Went 87 with them on and 100 with them off in this particular section of trail

All great info guys. I guess I need to make a decision. Can anyone provide a link to where I can order the snow trackers? Rode 200+ miles today. Love the sled. Hate the darting. Do you guys with the snow trackers find the outside blades can bend if you hit a rock in the trail?
