I noticed lol my next sled sidewinder!Did anyone else notice that Sidewinder destroying the Apex in the testimonial video ? Thats got to be killer fast cuz them Apexs are no joke. I had to rewind it and wow it slayed it off the line and the Apex never gained ground on it and it just kept pulling away. My old Apex pulled like a freight train , and I never had a stock sled walk away from me like that one did in the video. That new sled has got to be pretty stout to send a new Apex to the back of the bus like that..

Im betting next year new apex platform with 200hp motor. 50th anniversary will have something big. This a test on sales, reliability and functionality IMO
I though for sure before this reveal. But now I'm thinking same as 40th anniversary Apex was just BNG so...

the big deal here to me is the built in engine safeguards that weren't there on the 1049. This means the potential for more boost safer and being it is an engine designed for boost from the get go it should have a lower compression ratio..... again more boost safer
Exactly!!!
Im laughing reading a few of the comments here about prices.
They tucked a shitload of technology into this sled and the prices did not go up as much as i expected they would.
Everyone stating list prices. Who the hell pays list price. If you pay list, be mad at yourself not yamaha

It says 40% more hp than the Nytro NA motor. Nytro is 135hp x 1.4 = 189hp!

Does the engine still sit 3 inches too high in the chassis?
Do we get a yami chaincase or are we still stuck with the cat one that's prone to problems?
What does this beast weigh?

The gauges the same as Viper ? Maybe they could add the fancy pants gauge like Polaris that's a great idea .. Anyway it's badass Yamaha ! If it only snowed more for longer !

That quote from C.R. sure didn't give me a warm feeling about a new Apex replacement! Oh well, a couple of more years I can get vintage tags for my Attak!!!`` We (I) hope that the Sidewinder has what it takes to move our 4-cylinder Apex faithful. `` The Apex will be history next year!

IMO Yamaha is done building sleds. They have had since 2007 to make a new Apex. IMO the writing is on the wall.
Thats fine with me. I want yamaha to stay in the sled game as much as anyone on this site, but the reality for me is,
I ride a yamaha for the motor not the chassis.
While my yamahas have had acceptable chassis, they have never been the leaders in that department.
In my opinion As long as we keep getting motors like this new one i dont care who makes the chassis
Stuff this motor in an axys or new doo and watch the sales go through the roof

I'm in!!!! Coming off the old nytro with the 18hp power up kit, I love the 3 hole corner to corner torque. THIS is that on steroids!!!!!!!

Could be wrong but it's in the "new" srv chassis so maybe they reconfigured the front end and how this new 998 sits in there. Time will tell.Does the engine still sit 3 inches too high in the chassis?
