New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

IMO Yamaha is done building sleds. They have had since 2007 to make a new Apex. IMO the writing is on the wall.

I couldn't agree more. What's amazing to me is the new release was just over a few hours ago and already people are speculating about next year. WAKE UP!

All this talk about 200hp apex's, 4 cylinder phazers, the return of 2-strokes is VERY unlikely to happen.

The only product line that Yamaha seems to be serious about is the performance street bikes.
Case in point: I bought brand new a 2007 700 raptor. It was the second year after it became a 700cc from the 660 previously. So basically, the 700 raptor has been around for 10 years with nothing but BNG. I have been waiting for years for an engine upgrade to this machine with nothing done.

Yamaha is VERY close to losing me as a prospective customer!

There's quite a bit of info on the turbo on Chris Reid's blog. There is a PDF download near the end of his post. Gotta say that this engine is pretty high tech... nice!

right, the 180-190 hp is just the start. Once the tuners get their hands on this thing it's going to be interesting. I wonder what the boost level is from the factory

Oh btw, was I right or was I right?

New sled built at TRF with a turbo charged 3 hole 4s based off new SxS Yamaha in a new skid and new clutching. Fast and expensive!!

I haven't dug back that many pages but it probably was removed last night.

The 540 is 2stroke

Really? Is it gonna be the hot performance sled everybody is looking for? Think about that.
How many of those do they sell per year. Maybe a few hundred.

FINALLY - Yamaha did something to change the industry. All new motor purpose built for turbo, all-new turbo technology to retain pressures at all throttle positions and virtually eliminate lag, all new clutch that allows for overshift and super-high speeds, all-new oil cooling system injects cooled oil to the pistons, plus all kinds of comfort upgrades, track options, and suspension options. Nice job, Yamaha! Thank you - and ignore the naysayers on this site!!! I finally have a sled to replace my supercharged '09 Nytro!

It says 40% more hp than the Nytro NA motor. Nytro is 135hp x 1.4 = 189hp!

Based on the hp plot if the Nytro is 135 hp each vertical grid line is equivalent to about 21.67 hp. That puts the Sidewinder at about 200 hp

That's quite an endorsement for a sled that was just introduced a few hours ago and that only a very small handful of people have actually ridden.
You may be right.
Just remember to bring plenty of money. Cuz they ain't cheap.
