It looks like Hurricane is making their own clutch weights again. Big pull clutch arms?
I just noticed them on their site. Has anyone had any experience with them yet?

I'm looking at their 240 SM tune. It comes with them. If i do get it and we get a winter again I will report back

Just looked at them, everything I had been feeling I needed when adding weights to my heavy hitters this seems to want to cover in a little diff way. Always felt these sleds wanted/needed a weight that is heavy at the heal to help with acceleration and that’s where a lot of the slipping came from.

They seem to have some resemblance to the stingray flat profile weights I had in my adapt for a while. Hurricane weights have some extra mass in the heel though. Really liked those stingray weights on the adapt. They take more weight due to the profile and not quite as responsive as lighter weights of course but they pull really hard and cool belt temps. No slip!

I had the Hurricane 240SM tune added to the winder. Clutching will have Hurricane weights with Orange/ Black secondary spring. Stock helix for now. Once we get snow I will let everyone know the results.

So update to the new Hurricane weights. Very happy with the low end pull. Only thing is on the big end I am losing RPM. Hole shot is a tad high I believe. Some times 8800 8900. But when I finally got the chance to hold it for a bit the RPMS drop ( as low as 7950 ) and I get 2 red lights flashing on the dash. Track was re-tightened. If anyone else is running these weights are you having the same issue? Other question is do I need to change my helix from a reverse helix to a straight or 39/35 ish?

As always that's for the help.

The lights are warning you of engine “knock”
Get out of the throttle immediately when you see this warning.
Boost leak? Weight too heavy?
8900 rpm is fine if it holds it. How much weight are you using?

Why are you pulling it down to 7950? Take some tip weight out of it, you got to get that RPM up in the 9000 even 9100 range on the top end with a tune and big muffler. The low RPM will cause deto. thats why the dash is flashing at you. Don't want that to be happening too many times or ever for that matter. Get some Boostane in the tank if you cant clutch it better than that also. You are in need of a different clutch recipe and serious help if you are pulling the RPM down like that upstairs, you're 1000 RPM off. Could also be down on power and not able to pull a known good clutch recipe. I don't know anyone running these weights so cant help you there on what they need.

I reached out to Dave at Hurricane to find out. Response i got was weights are setup and shipped for his tune. Waiting for another response back for the low RPM and if I should not be running the reverse helix. Was going to try another helix.

Update

Found stub shaft was moved in from factory. Corrected and installed CHP stub shaft washer to prevent future movement. Called Dave and he had me move weight from tip to heal and remove 4g total from tip. Now at 71.1g for weights. Nothing in the tip. Offset is now at 60.5mm no washer behind secondary. It might be a day or so before I can run it and report back. Thanks for the pointers. Will do one thing at a time until we get it.

Depending on secondary set up, this sounds like you are in the ballpark with total weight.
I know the Dalton weights may be a different profile, but with a 240 SM Hurricane tune and Dalton weights, @ 71.5 grams was where I was ending up on a Yamaha primary clutch.
It seems Dave always recommends really heavy set ups for his tunes. The few I have seen with his recommended weight always needed quite a bit of weight pulled out of the primary to work correctly.

I always got rid of the reverse angle helix on tuned sleds. I didnt feel it was needed. I always felt the reverse angle was to combat turbo lag, which I never found to be a problem.
Straight 35, 39-35, 41-37 are the angles I used.
Your results may vary.

I will see how this works out for now and will get a different helix for next year. Thanks for the info
