New ice scratchers

Those look like a great idea, I would consider those for sure!

:-o

I can't wait until someone gets them posted to see how they fit on our sleds..were they store when not being used, etc.

I'd be a little concern about them getting SNAGGED in debris, roots, crevices/cracks, rocks etc...I wouldn't want to be the 1 to experience the results, I have to admit its a great idea...but :dunno:

Excuse my ignorance but can someone explain what the purpose of these are and do they really work?

I am under the impression they scratch the ice causing ice to flake off right in the path of the slides so it helps lubricate the slides when running on ice or in marginal snow. Nothing I need but useful to some...

Looks like easy installation. How do they pin up out of the way when not in use?

Wow.... $90 frickin bucks for the pair. I was figuring about $35 to$40. What are they made of, titanium? I think I will pass for now.

Wow for sure $90 I should of patented my design no phone call or cut lmao. You would of thought they would of at least gave me a couple of sets for my sleds. I would not be surprised they got the idea from this thread. I built a pair out of tail gate cables from a chev 1/2 ton three years ago for $36 for the pair. Just goes to show you how much Yamaha reads and gets ideas from this site and its members free R&D. Ok Yamaha Canada I expect two sets sent to me for this idea just PM me for my address. Like thats going to happen.

You can make a pair of these easy enough. Check out the thread from a few years ago. Make sure to use 1/4 cable so there is enough downward pressure. The original ones I built were hitting the ski and skid plate. If I were to build another set I would be sure to make a bracket that uses two holes so to stop the cable from going straight back and losing its downward pressure making them useless. I see yamaha did the same thing so these will end up going straight back as mine did. You will have to keep on resetting them with this design.

I remembered seeing it but couldn't find it...yep thats the 1, you should of regestered it "PATENED" it :o| oh well better luck next time, I do agree on the price is kind of steep

Yamaha needs the money. I would build a set and they would be better than these. Trust me these ones are going to go straight back in time. You will need to keep resetting the cable angle. Ooops now yamaha will know how to make a really good pair now. LOL

Yamaha copied your idea of ice scratcher :die but slidekick copied first.

Do you still own these scratcher that you built?
how thought are they?

If they are good i gona save 90$ and built them like you did...with 2 hole to keep the pressure.
