New M9 yamaha ski

stole these pictures from another post

by the looks of the keel, they will need some dartless but they do look good. I wonder how this product takes paint? Anyone here familiar with the plastic used for blowmolding?

This is sold as a mountain ski so the lack of tracking parafernalia doesn't suprise me. If they come out with a trail ski with a single carbide, I will be disappointed.

Slap on a set of Deuce bars and I'd think these would work awesome.

Hi Pete,

Good to hear from you.

I agree bob,the best thing,is i dont have to do a million miles every time i tow up north,as my stuff will already be there, and will be much more relaxing.

Thanks for the pics! Which thread did you get them from? With the narrow middle not sure how they can be good for flotation as a mountain ski?

Hard to see but I don't think there a Yamaha name on the loop handle. Isn't this the only reason where hipped up about this ski? If they don't show the brand then why not just buy any other good aftermarket ski already out there.

They definitely need color loops. Wonder if it will be an option.

Great pics are always better then words!

Anyone know HOW WIDE these new ski's are? I sure hope they are wider then the current 7" MNT ski....any input?

A little bird told me these are not the 'final' product but wouldn't/couldn't elaborate on any changes made since the version in the pics. With any luck I can get a couple shots at the Novi show, if i remember to bring the camera......and maybe a ruler....

Hey Chief!

The new skis actually look pretty wide to me near the front of the skis, and decently wide even in the middle part. I bet the tip is 8 inches or so and 6 or so inches in the middle.

Let us know, Chief!

Thx,

Mike

Blow molded plastics (polypropylene, polyethylene) typically aren't paint friendly after molding. With the abuse that skis take it would be better if they were molded in color but some of the new plastic paints might work. And here's a tip- if you are ever having a hard time gluing plastic with crazy glue, try waving a flame over the surface until you see it dull slightly (but not bubble). Sometimes flame treating works for adhesives so it might work for paint too.

M9 refers to the number of tries before they had one that didn't bust in half under normal use.

LOL!

I would be surprised if there aren't color options assuming the plastic costs don't increase much. But looking at it, it would be all the same color. I wonder if they can do the mixed color too with the blow molding?

Probably just solid colors- blow molding is an extruded 'tube' of molten plastic that is pinched together on both ends and inflated inside a mold. Any color variations within the part would only be stripes like the clear stripe on a plastic oil bottle.
