New member with a new Yamaha

Welcome to the jungle.. Lol

Search function is your friend on the site..

Many different types of riders and setups... And results...

About the only consensus is skis... Just about anything is better... But some are much better..

Hit me up with the messaging system here if you ever need anything!

Welcome! But if your first Yamaha, try to be fair if any issues, and realize it is a lot Arctic Cat. Wife is still busting on me because of a thief river falls assembled product in the garage, but I will be very fair and respectful. Engine is awesome, by the way!!

Congrats. Power is addicting but skis suck and are dangerous! Curves will bite better than pilots for aggressive riders. That being said I went with the pilot 5.7 kit and 8 inch woody's executive in the center due to a great price and the fact I don't drive super aggressive any more at 56 years old. Follow Rocker Dan's Pilot post. It is very informative. Steering is light and sled handles great in all conditions now!!

Very true but one thing about Cat is they do perform. I rode nothing but Cats for over 15 years from 1990 till 2004 and I'm very familiar with their products. All those years I put up with bad fasteners, noisy clutches and engines, crazy vibrations and all sorts of quality issues. The one constant was they always performed at the top of the class. They had the best handling and riding sleds on snow. They were also very durable. During those years Yamaha and Doo had quality products but they never could compete with Cat and Poo when it came to ride and handling.

Last night as I was riding my Winder at a pretty good pace through some twisty trails I was blown away at how well this chassis rides and handles. I think the Yamaha engine really compliments this chassis. There is no way my 1200 Doo can handle like this chassis. I find myself riding much faster on this sled and it's not because of the engine.

There are some things that need attention as a result of the Cat DNA but the end result is well worth it in my opinion. I will take this chassis over all the rest at this point because just like all my Cats of the past it performs and performs very well.

I agree...but never having a cat except to fix...lol...I always respected their accomplishments in racing and chassis design. Just taking a while to get it to my liking, but I'm close. My knees are a little sore so I have to get used to riding on the cowling lol. ...but honestly, I like it.
It flies amazing flat in the air..nice balance.

Actually the Winder has much less knee bend and is more comfortable than my 1200 Doo.

So I picked up the new sled today and found this lovely mess under the gauge area. Glad the dealer charges $299 for prep! IMG_2258.JPG

Let Yamaha know about it in your survey. Was it a “5 Star Dealer” where you purchased your sled?? Lol

Looks like a mouse nest...
That's a bit bizarre !
I could see if you were buying a used , un kept , parting out sled !
And then it would be a GWP !!
I have seen what mice can do in a short time .
Is there any chance it happened in the trailer on your way home ?????
I can't wait to hear what the dealer says about this.

I am new to this site as well. You definitely came to the right place, the guys on here are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The other great thing is I thought I was a sled addict, but these guys make me feel like an amateur.
