JTSSRX, You dirty dawg, The guys I've talked to say the Bender kit has some Turbo lag, the MC Xpress guys I've talked to say they have next to NO Turbo lag, I was shooting for "O" Turbo lag and you should be on boost before you hit the throttle!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awsome job so far can't wait to see the final project. Once you get it dialed in it WILL BE THE ONE TO BEAT! You just took the Turbo set up on these sleds to another STAGE. Nice to see not everyone is set on riding the same mule. I'll be watching your posts even closer now. Just keep saying TURBO RX-1, TURBO RX-1 TURBO RX-1 man I just love the sound of that.

Snow Fever: Thank you for the kind words. I really respect your independant effort on your turbo. It looks great. I could never have built this kit on my own. Bob and Fred who started Lightning Pro are highly skilled. It's been a pleasure watching them work on this project. We are going to be able to provide the public with a top notch product because of there talents!!!!!!!!!

intercoolers
It should also be noted that this exact carb and turbo is being used on a "BUSA" and it makes 500 bhp without intercooling. The Yamaha motor will also make huge power if one cares to go into the engine and install heavier rods. However we really need to dismiss the power that is available with this and other set-ups. The real issue is trying to get the power you have to the ground, without destroying your drive line. A well designed turbo will develop more power than we can use, so we should shift our thoughts to power management and along with that the issues of turbo lag and ease of tuning and reliability.
Also a properly designed turbo motor will live longer at any given hP out put than a normally aspirated motor. reason being is that the connecting rods are never un-loaded under boost. This is easily noticed when the motor is under boost you can feel how smooth it becomes. ie. lack of vibration . Also, a simple alternative to an inter-cooler is water alcohol injection, which is easily to install and very low cost.------- FRED

AWSOME project, pic's look way cool. Looks like a lot of work but will pay off. 1 question, what are you useing for the rear heat exchanger? Or did you make it?

Heat exchanger
It's from a SXR700. I modified the aluminum braket to fit in the RX-1 tunnel. It turned out better then I thought when I started woring on it.
