I keep hearing that ski doo will have an 880 turbo
that puts out 175-180 hp, and will weigh less than 440 lbs dry...anybody else hear about this??
I love yamaha..but they better get going..if the above rumor is true, I know a few guys will be jumping ship.
Quite frankly the lousy shock valving, and poor riding skids
have sent many people to the yellow team already.
I hope yamaha is paying attention...cause nobody I ride with is gonna pay 15,000 for a poor riding sled just cause it
has power steering...especially if the competition, has a faster, lighter sled.
I love yamaha...but they better have something up their sleeve...or they are gonna get left behind.

I personally don't believe it...right now their Etec 800 is the performance flagship...I doubt they'll bring out a turbo making more HP...and if they do, it won't be cheap...the Etec 800 isn't.

You will see a bigger 4 stroke next year from DOO, but it won't be this year. What I am hearing is a kit will be released to Turbo the 800R etetc. 230hp. Like Yamaha, for the mountains.

you can keep the lighter sleds, does anyone not read the forums, the new nytros are getting tweaked and so are the xp's you can only shave so much weight and you'll sacrifice durability. now lets make it faster so it can be beat harder im sure it will last longer.

Have to chuckle with these posts that come at the same time each year. 440 lbs dry? 175-180 hp? There is no magical bunny that can be pulled out of a hat that can beat the laws of physics of the weight of Aluminum, an engine block and all components to make up a sled and still be affordable. Take an XR 1200 and ask yourself where it can shave 70 lbs of this controversial "dry weight" and then throw 40-50 hp adding weight to the engine and still expect a weight loss in a chassis that has to be built stronger. Simple common sense, take any part off a 1200 doo and put it in your hand and ask yourself if you need it? How much more can it be drilled out? How much thinner can the tunnel get? How much thinner can the single ply tracks get?
Thats all I have to say about any hype

Doo dealers saying a 900 4stroke ace possibly turbo which will be the next in the line of the ace motor line. It has to happen at some point doo said the 60hp ace was the first I. The line of the ace motors, and the 1200 was a motor design on loan contracted for a different company. Soon they will replace the 1200 with a new ace. Also they have q new skid design in the works so new motors and better suspensions coming this year or next.

Well i know alot of folks are dumping on the light weight, cheese shreaded up chassie, but i had the first year xp 800,and i beat the crap out of it,and never tweaked anything on it,i did have belt problems,as alot of us did when doo changed to a solid jackshaft, that had no adjustabality, you could not adjust your offset,so belts may of been a problem, and it did not have the top speed most though it was going to have, and it was just to light for my taste, not durabality light, but when you are running full tilt down a lake and the wind picks up the front and moves you over a foot real quick, now that is just to darn light for me. Plus it did not handle as well as i exspected it would, for an x package,i even installed a complete set of Zbroz shocks, and still could not get it to stay flat thru the twisties, but i understand the heavier 4 strokes do lay down flat,so time will tell.
