new "studboy" duece bars on Attak. Need advice....

I too have the doolies on my Attack. They did push in the corners. I then read a post about how the Attack likes to be "ON" the throttle when cornering. It was a little nerve racking the first time I tried, but it works. Instead of coasting around the corner, give it a little throttle and it will hold it's line and blast out of the corner. You also have to be on the bars to get a little weight off the track. Mind you, this is for aggressive riding. If you just "cruise" a little leaning is all you need to hold your line. Hope this helps.

My reason for the Simmons were to help skis lift and reduce darting...
Why it did help the ski lift the darting was 10 times worse with the Simmons...
I reduced weight over the skis and tried shims on the skis but it didnt help...
I sent them back and installed 8" Doolies and I like it much better..drf

From my experience with the Attak, is if your on the throttle in a corner your going to hit a tree because the ripsaw bites so hard the skis come of the ground......drf

Drfbuster - how do skiis affect ski lift unless they don't get enough bite and slide through the corner (they don;t lift but then you blow the corner)? I never understood how a ski would stop ski lift without 20 lbs being added to it.

I am just curious - not trying to rip.

77srxdude, The Simmons flex skis have the carbides all the way to the left and to the right of the outside edges of the skis which will actually give the sled a wider skis stance from the outer carbide as far as handling goes....

All other skis have carbides in the middle of the ski....Think about it.....drf

I used Woody's Doolies for the first time last weekend and they absolutely rail. No push in the corners. I felt no push, just went where I pointed it, unbelievable, the best carbide I have ever purchased. ;)!

What were you running previously ? did you change anything in the suspension? What size 4,6,or 8inch? Thanks....

6" shapers, no suspension changes, 6" Woody Doolies.
I am installing the duece bars this week. wont get to try till next week or the 16th of feb. need winter back.....did you feel like you could have had less bite and been ok? I am hoping to be able to dial more weight transfer to the back due to installing these new duece studboy 6" carbides.....

Actually drfbuster that appears to be sort of incorrect.

The inside of the ski is the biting runner according to the Simmons website. www.flexi-ski.com

That effectively makes for a ski stance that is moved inboard . The stance actually stays the same.

My guess is the lack of the Yamaha deep keel for the sled to pivot on and the outer runner on the Simmons helping limit the lift is the answer as to why ski lift is less with Simmons than the recent Yamaha Deep keeled ski's.

Once the lift is started, the bearing surface of the Simmons is now further outboard and the resistance to ski lift will be higher. This does not happen though until you are into ski lift.

Once you get some ski lift, and are up on that outer edge, drfbuster is mostly correct, now you have a pivot point that is further outboard than standard ski's.

However, I aint no engineer so I may be way off base.

I am running 8" Doolys with 162 megabites....

8" Doolys seems to work well on both of my Vipers too 144 studs each....drf

IMO - Skiis lift because the outside is grabbing and there is not enough downward force on the opposite side to keep the ski from lifting. Only weight/force transfer will alleviate the ski lift. When moving more forward and up higher - like on the rider forward sleds - in order to get less lift - you are going to have to lean more to reduce it - that or a stiffer swaybar.

I installed the duece bars on my Apex GT after about 150 miles on stock. With 144 studs I did not notice significant pushing in corners. I have 8" dooley's (with 144 studs) on my 05 RX-1 and I do notice pushing and longer turning radius going to the dooley's. I'm not sure if it's the difference between the duece vs dooley's or if it's the Apex vs RX-1. In any event I'm very pleased as both eliminated darting, and the shaper's appear to handle the turns much better.
