Just picked up my new 2015 viper rtx se white/ blue. I was wondering what is the first things guys are doing to them ( mods, fixes, looks). I also would like to know where are good places to order your aftermarket parts from. I mainly ride trails and fairly new to sleds ( I raced atvs for 17 yrs). My last sled was 2002 viper. Thanks.

A different windshield and a good set of hand guards are the first things you would want. As for mods, Definitely some clutch work. There are some good after market guys out there. As already mentioned, Ulmer is one of the best. I would put Excell up there with them as well. You will love the sled. The front shocks are always fun to dial in. Good luck with it!

I recommend no mods for 1000 mi that way you know how your mods work. This sled is a blast stock. just adjust stock components to the best they can be and mod after.

How about the 8dn belt. Do you have to shim or will it work in stock form?

I would probably start with some better carbides.

Yes - my stock carbides snapped off before riding the sled once. I added Stubboy shapers 4.5 inch carbides. My track is not studded. If studded I would consider 6 inch.
YOu have to intall the shims behind the secondary for it to work. and machining the secondary to eliminate spring bind is not a bad idea Ulmer does this. If you are not going to turbo it is not as big of a deal. The 8 jp is having trouble holding up to bigger HP.How about the 8dn belt. Do you have to shim or will it work in stock form?

Look at the top of this forum for the "Just the Facts" sticky it has everything in there. But in my opinion the "must do" are
1. Clutch Kit or make your own by instructions in the sticky mentioned above.
2. 8DN belt is a big must, don't wait until you have to clean your clutches to switch.
3. Skis, stock are pretty limited.
