In the process of picking up a just used turbo 800 kms on 07 Apex MCX rear mount. It has wiesco low comp pistons and is set at 15psi. Suppose to use 50/50 race and pump gas. I am brand new to turbos coming over form skidoo was told mapping is set up for 15 I have looked at the boost calculator and if i turn it down to say 11 psi for pump gas do you have to get all new mapping? I have seen lots of you saying you turn down the boost so you must have fuel controllers right on the sled right I believe this one is all efi no manual controller? Do you have to run race gas on these pistons? Inspired by these turbos hope to have fun any info on any of this will be great.

If its got low comp pistons inside its probably good for 12 psi on pump fuel.

The Fuel issue I understand, but do you have to load all new fuel mapping for 12 pounds. Are you guys using the multi stage fuel controllers? I know i can turn the boost down but everything is set for 15. I do not understand the fuel controll on these.

Im not an expert on the MCX but I beleive you have to change the "chip" to 12 psi.

I think that is the answer I am looking for, is there certain chips for different boost ranges? How hard is it to change them?

Yes there are different chips for differnent power ranges. I beleive its just a plug and play deal but I don't know.

If you have a the mcxpress kit and it has the 310 mapping which it does if it has been run at 15#'s, then all you have to do is turn down the boost. There is no "chip" that needs to be replaced. The kit is mapped all the way to 19#'s so you can run it anywhere from 10-19, its already set and ready to go.

correct can go down in boost no fuel changes already programmed. mcx is in my opinion the one the rest are trying to match. in quality

If and only if it has both the 10:1 low compression pistons and the mcxpress head shim (mcxpress 310 HP kit), can it run at 17 lbs on premium (best available) pump gas at sealevel.
Here in Scandinavia (Norway and Sweden) guys run the MCXpress 310 kits at 17 lbs on best available pump fuel. That would be 98 octane RON, compares to 93 octane ratings in the US.
To change the fuel mapping MCXpress connects the mcxpress ECU onboard the sled to a laptop and downloads the mapping from the sled. Then they alter the map settings and reloads the mapping to the ECU onboard the sled. It only takes a minute to change the mapping. My friends sled was mapped at MCXpress' dyno with me and Erik Marklund in the dyno control room. It was really cool watching him change mappings between dyno runs to optimize the AFR for the whole rpm range, taking the engine from 360 HP to 377 HP. My friends MCX400 kit got larger injectors, thus the need for a remap of the MCX400 ECU mapping.
