I bought a blue Viper xtx on Friday and put 40 miles on it today. I love this sled, everything about it is fantastic. The ride and handling is great and it's great through the deep snow. Way better ride than my 09 xp. I had enough of the 800r's lack of reliability, so I bought this. I love the the 4 stroke, always has power. I have been trying to take it easy with break in and all, but it's hard to do. I have had it steaming a bit when going through deep snow, but nothing too excessive. The temp gauge is always 2/3 to 3/4, when it idles it goes to about 3/4 fairly quickly, even at -30c. Are your temp gauges reading that high?

yes that is normal. when you have the temp gauge on the screen press and hold the bottom left button for a while and it will put the heat in degres f inside the bar. mine runs at 165 and heats up when idling. the fan kicks on at 190.

My sled runs at 165 to 169 , and I also really like this sled so far , handling is awesome and it loves the big bumps haven't had one problem with it , oh there is one thing I keep turning off the hot grips when playing in the deep snow !

That's great. Than I have nothing to worry about. I still need to figure this gauge set up out, but I like it. What hand warmer setting is the low? The 1 dot setting felt hotter, but I might just be crazy.

I thought the one dot was low but may be not , I must have turned them off like 4 times now ...lol....they are way warmer than the Yamaha grips that all I know ;)!

Search Ebay for "Arctic Cat Kill & Heater Switch Guards " Mine cost $16.99 and I bought mine for the kill switch guards as it seems easy for me to hit the kill switch.

Never understood Yamaha's love affair with using a radiator vs a tunnel heat exchanger. It seems to me that a long exchanger in the tunnel is more effective and a simpler design. Plus, we all know the Yammies are heavier in the nose, replacing the radiator with a large tunnel exchanger would help balance weight rearward.

I think they are trying to get rid of the icing issues that you constantly hear about.
