Yamaheaters solved the hand warmer issues for me in all but the coldest situations. Last ride at -22 F they struggled to keep up but other than that work well...

What is the major problem with single keel Yamaha skis?? I was thinking of putting mtx skis on my xtx. Need new skis either way as I bent one.You are right, single keel skis by yamaha are not great. For deep snow the dual keel skis (Tuner I / II) are just ok, but they can work great (on trail) with the right setup if you don't have an extra $400 burning a hole in your pocket for new skis...

you just need to add a shim between the ski and the rubber so that the tip stays up better. run 09 mtx skis on the majority of my stuff with the ski shim mod with no issues.

the new ones are different than the older style ones. i have not tried the new style ones yet as i keep spares. on the xtx you have, all the ski loops, carbide washers, carbides/wear bars and spindle washers transfer over to the 09 mtx ski bottoms. the only things you need are a new spindle tube for the nitro mtx with the spacer collars and the longer bolt.

Darting is the big issue. As noted there are several things to help with it, one is get new rubbers and reverse them, two is add a shim under the rear of the rubber, check out the Bergstrom website, they have a great write up. There are solutions like Duallies and other skegs for single keel skis too. I bought new tuner IIs as they were cheap and then did the full Bergstrom setup (I detailed it all in my Front end + post). I ride mostly groomed trails and love the setup I have, off trail they are just ok as they are not wide enough to float like mtx skis but they ride like on rails on trails, zero darting. I would try what you have with new reversed rubbers and a shim and see how you like it.What is the major problem with single keel Yamaha skis?? I was thinking of putting mtx skis on my xtx.
