Sorry Steve, I reread.....
Skidoo is the one of the best marketing companies in the biz. In my opinion, second only to Harley Davidson.
They built a new XP in '08, reengineered the plastics in '14 and stayed on top in sales by sprinkling fairy dust on an 8yrs old chassis. Lol! I have to hand it to them.
They are well thought-out and accessorize their products, full tilt.
But in my personal opinion, have did little since '08.
Yes, etec, rmotion, Ras, and ets skis. Huge, but getting old.
I was looking for a game changer, that I didn't see coming soon enough.
Your not wrong in many ways. I still can't believe you went 4stroke after so much heavy hate lol! But glad you thought outside the box. If I had a place to use all the sidewinder's power I would have jumped on one.
We'll see if you figure out who this is, krm should know

No hate, bro. After riding the 900 & 1200. I honestly get it. Going to buy one of those. And the fly in the ointment, Yamaha comes out with the Sidewinder. I'm in....lol!
Anyway, is this Pete? Lol......

And yea, it's me! You got me back on a site I've been off for 3 years. Honestly I was yamaha before and I am interested to watch you guys through this season. Figured I'd join the party over here to follow along.

I had a few to say the least haha. I actually sold my last yamaha in 2013. Kinda bummed to this day as I loved the old thing. Just didn't have the space to keep them all. I had a built Apex that I had way too much fun on before I finally caved for the doos.
And no you can't die yet, there's too much fun on that new turbo to have this year, lol!

Pre-studded is a joke......People say they work great but IMO and experience with them is they're ain't nothing to put in a track to gain traction on hard pack or icy trail than real honest to goodness studs....ya sure prestudded is better than nothing on the ice but not much........now take the huge power these things are gonna be making and just try to get them to hook and good luck putting it down.....
My last sled I ran a 1.75 lug and studs for 100% on trail use.......I thought I really had something.....turns out the big lug was slapping the ground and robbing me of power as it was no longer "scooping"....I cut it down to a 1.375....ran the same amount of studs up the center and it came out of the hole quicker AND was faster up top...
These Sidewinders come with what the RipsawII 1.25.......thats a good track.....JT did you get the 137....if so that longer footprint you're gonna benefit from so the 1.25 is good.....stud it an run it....you'll be fast and the studs will give you the traction as they all spin down to ice or frozen ground sooner or later......then the studs will accelerate you with their 3/8ths penetration and no matter the size lug it will be just fanning the fluff....

That's a VERY bold & "matter of factly" statement. Although i agree with your statement as far as traction goes, some people are willing to sacrifice a little to gain in other areas, like dependability & longevity. Even "sj" who individually sharpens all 2000 of his 3" studs (just kidding sj), admits that not one set-up is good for everyone. Now with this much power the pre-stud may not be good & i'll be the first on here to admit it. BUT on my Apex it was perfect. 12,500 HARD ridden miles ain't no "joke" & still looks great! BTW my pre-studded track has towed 2 sleds home with studs through exchangers...Pre-studded is a joke......People say they work great but IMO and experience with them is they're ain't nothing to put in a track to gain traction on hard pack or icy trail than real honest to goodness studs....ya sure prestudded is better than nothing on the ice but not much........now take the huge power these things are gonna be making and just try to get them to hook and good luck putting it down.....

LOUNGER, we're getting the Band together (Maine TTY riders) this year. Where do you ride?

Ya got me there.....playing it safe I guess is where the (prestudded) shine....not that I don't believe you saying "hard miles" an I'm sure it looks great but no way were they giving you more than mediocre traction on anything more than glare ice......the penetration just ain't there....That's a VERY bold & "matter of factly" statement. You're right, but glare ice means going slower on trails anyways except for that SCARY sphincter tightener that catches you off guard. I CAN tell you this because i tested it. My 1,000,000 lb. Apex(per Doo scale) with 129'' track by FAR out-stopped my buds' Doo with 120'' studded track on his 100lb.( per Doo scale) machine. LOL. He had 5,000 miles on those studs(probably dull) & i had about 10,000. Mine are still sharp. I had 240 scratchers stopping me. They work better than most would think. NOT as good as good sharp studs, but better than my 121'' track with 192 warn studs with 3500 miles. I switched years ago & not only have not looked back, but have convinced many to switch. One bud refuses to go WAY up north on big trips with anybody running studs. I got a deal for you! Since you ride Maine, let's ride. We can play all day & report our findings on TTY. Two exact 'Winders going head to head ALL day. I have two 500 mile days & one 600 under my belt, so bring some Ben-Gay...BTW i'm planning on dropping 5 lbs. to get down to my 165lb. fightin' weight so when i get across the lake first, i'll have them get the coffee warm. LOL...

Yes on the 137" I understand the traction difference between pre & do it yourself. I've had very good luck doing it myself.
Length is what im thinking about. Minimum of 1.45's maybe longer?
