No speedo and engine on limp mode

I have no speedo and the dash alternates between odometer and check engine. The engine idles fine but then when given gas is revs and then drops revs over and over.
Drive bearing??

make sure your speed sensor bolt did not come out..

Sounds like a short.

Some squealing from clutch side. Was able to drive sled but the odo and check engine kept alternating. No code. This all happened while I was riding. While riding I had no speedo.

Have you blown a belt recently?

I would check the Speedo side bearing below the secondary clutch

I've heard of those exact symptoms when the driveshaft bearing goes out. Simple to check it so I'd start there.

Yes and no. The belt was just starting to fall apart. But I rode 2 days after that with no problems.

It was a drive bearing and a bolt that broke off in the chain case and then knocked out the speedo sensor. Absolutely nothing left of drive bearing.

5800 Miles. So people check those bearings.

Lots grease them seasonally. Takes all of about 20 minutes half a hour to do. Cheap easy insurance. I think there might be a link on the nytro how to page.
