Hi Guys, I have an 07 apex mtn . Not sure if the 2 issues are related but last we I had to replace my heat exchanger under the running board due to a leak. I lost all of the coolant when it broke ... had repaired and replaced heat exchanger I added about 4 liters of antifreeze . Sled started fine although the red warm up light stayed on a little longer then normal. Actually it didn't go off until I hit the throttle just to rev it up a bit . The light then went out so I didn't pay much attention to it . I let it idle for another few minutes all appeared fine so I shut it down.
3 hours later I was going for a ride . It started fine I let it idle for a couple of minutes the red warm up light was on I moved it out of the garage to let it continue warming up . The light didn't go out after a longer then normal time so I gave it a couple of revs on the throttle as I did before it still didn't go out so I shut the machine off . I tried to start it immediately after and it would turn over but not start???
I thought the coolant may have been air locked as I didn't remove the air vent screw on the rear heat exchanger when I added the bottle of coolant ... So I removed the plastic trim and the screw there was an air issue as there was no coolant immediately at the screw so there was an air pocket . I had to add more coolant as the air was replaced from removing the bleed screw. I added another 2 cups of coolant . I was thinking this was the issue tried to start it and nothing.
May I have damaged the thermostat or coolant sensor when it ran dry off coolant ??? Or is it still air locked with no coolant reaching the sensor . Is the only sensor in the thermostat?
What about the warm up light staying on longer then normal . Is there a sensor for that ?
I am lost here ....Thanks for your anticipated help on this

had the same problem with my RX-1, sounds like air bound. I had to hoist my sled up from the front then the back. moves more coolant around to the spots where there is air, once you get the air out, should warm up and light will go out. good luck.

I had the heat exchanger leak too (rubbing on the skid mounting plate) and had to get it welded 3 times as each time it came back with a really small pin hole . Then had the air-lock but I knew there was an issue because I couldn't feel heat at the rear end. Now all is good but I'm a little worried about the repair. I did leave the weld a little high, shim the mounting plate .010" and took a little steel off in that area to make sure there would be no more contact.

I had the left side leak on me too. Right under the mount, I have owned 2 rx-1's and they both did it. Seems to be a flaw in manufacturing. I just replaced the cooler and never had a problem there after. It was hard to bleed the system
after that, but I finally got it. My light would stay on longer than normal until I got the air out of it. Anything else I can help you with, let me know.
Good luck
