This may help as it seems to be a Yamaha 3cyl thing.

I tried the washers with at illuminating the noise.
I pulled the stub shaft and bearing out and used the green Loctite for bearings in the splines of the stub shaft. I noticed too that the stub shaft bearing was pretty rough so I replaced it before I reinstalled the stub shaft. Like another fellow who posted earlier here, I hung a weight on the clutch to keep the pressure on the clutch clockwise looking at it from the end so that the splines were making contact and the Loctite would just fill the gap on the backside of those splines.
I can't express how happy I am now to not hear the clutch noise whatsoever.

I notice the roller side of the clutch doesnt have the allen screws locking the pin in like the weight does. yamaha used to do that on the higher performance sleds years ago. do they not put allens to secure the pin in place. to me the roller bolts and pins move around alot. my clutch is also very noisy

Yep no set screws , the Apex clutches had em , I guess this way you can wear out the spider arms along with the rollers

Just dropped mine at Dealer wish I could post a video of the noise it makes. Started one in the showroom floor and it’s night and day. I can accept the noise of newnone but mine is crazy loud
Oh, don't worry it gets louder with miles.....but just like a bitchy wife, you don't even hear it after a while! Still kinda embarrassing in public though!

The ole 05 vector had the orings and it is quieter than the 05 with only 800 miles and no orings...it's a 3 cyl. yammy thing. I don't mind....if a doo guy laughs, just agree..yeah it's ready to blow...and then blow their doors off..lol!

Lmao with the wife comment. But I got rid of the noisy wife problem. Hope they can get it quiet again so don’t have to explain what thatvracket is. Or maybe get a loud exhaust

Added O rings to mine all screws(rollers and weights), still loud.
Im now wondering about the weights, as they are the only other thing that is loose in there...the weights do not touch the rollers at idle, or if they do its night tight against them yet. So this could very well be the rattle.
Just a thought.

I swear my newly installed heavy hitters are quieter! Lol

I believe the noise is from the stub shaft. There is no fix and yes it gets louder with miles. Adding washers to the roller bolts will quiet them a tiny bit but is about useless. The one good thing about adding washers to those bolts is it will reduce the hammer wear effect that it is doing to the aluminum. Some place there is a pic that I think Don George Jr. posted of them starting to vibrate away the aluminum.

Unfortunately i think it is the nature of the beast.
Yes the o-rings as stated above helped the wear on the aluminum castings.
At approx 2000 miles on my Winder last season I decided to try to quiet down the clutch noise. I installed o-rings, shims, new bushings, loctited stub shaft and etc. After doing this all was quiet.
For about 500+ miles then the same noise came back. This is about the same sinario that we had with all the Yamaha 4 Stroke triples. Basically the harmonics of these motors makes the clutches rattle.
Install any of these noises clutches on a Apex and they are as quiet as a singer sewing machine.

Good post guys I swear there was something wrong with my clutches rattling and sounds louder than when I got it, was going to take it to dealer but if everyone is the same as mine I can live with that, but do have another noise, noticed bolts started to back off on the break, tighten them up and noise gone.
