Just bought a 2014 M8 ltd with 153 track and 800 Suzuki motor. Thought about Viper after I sold my boosted Nytro but not keen on buying sled and then track and rails. Also, after getting one of my Nytros down to 541 wet it was still top heavy and I have some concern there and decided to wait for the new Mountain Max and see if it has a lay down engine.
Flame if you feel the need
Sitting next to a 2013 M8 the 2014 M8 had a very noticable change in forward track angle of attack. I hope it does what they say it will. Other thing was fit and finish was NOT a Yamaha. Hope the Viper is better.
And if I hate it I can convert it to a Viper.............

I think you made a good choice ......a nytro is no mountain sled ......have fun with it .....
I got a viper coming ...so I hope I like it ...I'm sure I will and I'm sure your m8 will do everything you want it to
Good luck and ride safe

2014 Cat is 18 pounds lighter than 2013 so that should help with the nytro engine. I have to say I am impressed with the chassis engineering and have not completly rules out making it a Viper. Oh, I am only 155 pounds and I can pick up the 2014 cat from the front.

Sweet.....that sled will be a blast to ride....
I got a chance to ride a couple of the Demo XTX's last season as well as most importantly Neil's Converted m1100 (narrow and 162) on its maiden voyage last year. There is no comparing the Nytro Chassis to the Cat. The Nytro is a flawed chassis in geometry like the Ski Doo. But saying that, the Suzuki 800 is a great engine for a 2 stroke and I'm sure you'll love it. The biggest difference for me is getting a solid mounted jack shaft and Yamaha clutches. Obviously all of us mountain guys wish we didn't have to convert them as well though.
None the less, congrats on the new sled and don't forget OFT Racing makes parts for your Cat too.

Yeah I had some concerns about the clutches, but they have a secondary with a diff machined face (I assume like some of the aftermarkets were doing last year) so I hope its ok. I assume they might have had some help from Yamaha engineers and figured it out.
And yeah, I suspect OFT will get some more of my money.....lol

That was a tough choice for me Stingray. Thinking about the geometry (now more/less the same) and the engine, I went with a boosted Viper. I just couldn't get over how much I like the Yamaha motor. To be honest too, the clutching scared me away a bit on the Cat. I'm hoping the geometry is fixed, you're banking on better clutches, hopefully we all get the benefit of this partnership. If I went with a two stroke that would be my machine!
Ricky (OFT), you've got a few of my orders already!

Seeing as you are talking about another brand of sled I have moved this thread where it belongs in the head to head section.

Yeah because my 2014 M8 certainly is not a Viper!

Thought I was doing the new Viper owners a favor by talking about the suspension and chassis they will be getting......

What is your problem you can talk about it all you want here in the proper forum as long as you stay within the rules? You posted in the wrong section and it was moved simple as that. You are correct your M8 is NOT a Viper and is NOT a Yamaha!
