I tried to fire my buddies 2003 rx-1 up and it would only run on the two cylinders on the pto side. Didn't have time to check the spark or even pull the plugs to see if they were wet, just wondering if anyone else had this trouble and if there is a "quick fix"

are you going by sound or how the carb acts, I would look into a plug pilot...happens a lot with all the crappy gas we buy.

when it was running, I started pulling plug wires and it made no difference when I pulled those two wires. What is a plug pilot?

Take a look inside your tank and make sure both fuel pickups up in the bottom. If you tip the sled on the side its possible for a line to hang up on the fuel send float. You can pull the fuel lines off the exit side of the pumps to make sure fuel is flowing from both.. carefully, it is gas!

Put it on a stand and open the throttle briefly to see if it kicks in. If it does, then its most likely pilots, if it doesn't, its most likely plugs or gummy floats.

it will act the same way with plugged pilot jet...the pilot jet is the low speed and idle fuel delivery...clean the carbs and pilots is the way to cure it. I have had this happen on my 03 and it happened again on my 05, it is due to the Ethanol on the fuel sitting without being used it varnishes and gets the carbs all crapped up...really sucks. This is just whats happening to me..but maybe you have a bad plug but two bad plugs...thats hard to believe....just my 2 cents

Start with the simple things, plugs. Then move from there if that isn't the problem. I have heard of jet issues but way more plug issues. Guys keep them choked way too long

 I had a similar problem with my 04s and I ended up pulling the carbs on both sleds it wasnt that bad but you have to be careful !! the pilots looked liked they were plugged , pulled them out, cleaned them blew some air through them and also pulled the mains while i had them apart, you might check the plugs first, but i did and it ended up being the carbs, put them back together sounded perfect then I decided to use seafoam, avail, at napa, and gonna start them every month or so, it souldnt be to long befroe the season is here ! one note if you take apart the carbs, YOU WILL NEED NEW SCREWS!!!, the old ones are pos I hope this helps, and be careful of the heater/ black connectors on the bottom of the carbs

I would think the common sense thing to do is put new plugs in, then make a major issue out of this, if it doesn't solve the problem.

I don't understand why you guys aren't drainig the float bowls, there's no easier sled to do this on then the RX-1 takes maybe 2 minutes.

Thanks for the replys guys, I will start with cleaning the carbs since I was going to do that anyway and change the plugs and go from there. I will keep you posted and let you know what I find out.

If the tank is almost dry only one pickup will get gas, at least it is that way on my 05. I thought I had fouled it or plugged the jets but added another 1/2 gal of gas and it went away immediatly. Hope its this simple for ya.

install new spark plugs-old ones are varnished and foul very easily with stale fuel in the system
after its running put in fresh fuel and some sea-foam in tank

Best tip i can give is to get good gas no ethanol and and buy it in the country something about that city gasoline my 03 has never had the carbs pulled (knock on wood) I just do as i stated above and use premium in the last tank of the year This is good for me cuz if i had to pull the carbs i'd be lucky to get them back on lol.
