Not firing...

motor isnt firing on My 07 phazer. charged battery, been trying to start, wont start. Cranks fine. doesn't smell gassy, doubt flooded but.... tried a little startin fluid, not even a poop. never seen plugs, wheres the best sticky on how to get to them or anyone have ideas before I tear into the plug project. PS- why are the plugs ridiculously hard to access????

Remove the gas tank to get at the plugs.They are hard to get at because normally they dont need to be changed for 10000 mi or maybe more.Once you see if you have spark we will have to figure out how they got fouled.

you shouldn't need to do this but try hitting the throttle while cranking a few times. if it pops or backfires, stop with the throttle.
then you at least you know your getting fuel.

i do this once in awhile on initial start for season.

just put a boost pack on the battery to keep the amps up.

i had this happen to me this year & i was going to tear down to the plugs, then she fired after cranking awhile.

Thanks for the input. I tried crackin' the throttle but no dice. She sit all nite, I got the battery on a trickle, I'm gonna try it in a couple. I might pull the fuel pump fuse if it doesn't go. then crank on 'er for a while to dry it out if I still suspect fowling. Hand to check for spark without the whole removal process. Cannondale, I might have fouled it cranking with a less than fully charged battery, and cracking the trottle and holding it open to let more air in. thanks for the help

got 'er going! little go juice then a couple pop pops! That means We have spark! little more go juice, pop, pop, Buuuuuuuuurrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! runnin like a champ! 1st problem since I bought 'er new in 07! same battery and plugs! I better shut up and knock on Wood!!

Same exact thing with my 07 phazer on xmas day. It was below zero all night, and I neglected to put the charger on the battery since bringing it out of storage.

A little time (5 min) on the charger and it fired right up. They like extra juice to fire the plugs and crank the engine. My guess is with an overnight on the charger, it will be fine for the season.

Rode 130 miles last Friday, 120 Saturday, Ran great- No Problemo! I'm thinking, weak battery=slow crank=wet plugz... old fuel too...

I tried to start mine up on Saturday but the battery was dead. It wouldn't hold a charge at all. I could crank it over while on the charger but it never fired.

I did get it to catch once with a shot of starter. I unhooked the charger and it died. If i staid on the throttle it would run. I don't think the system had enough juice to run the fuel pump at idle with a dead battery. I rode to the gas station and it promptly died at the pump when i let off the gas.

Once i put a new battery in everything was fine.

The breather hose that connects to the top of the gas tank came off it's nipple on the way back from the gas station. That was a fun ride because I couldn't stop.

Same thing happen to me when I sold it 2 weeks ago. Sled would crank but not enough voltage to start it. Hooked up the charger and it started up. Unhooked 40 sec later it died. Did this a few times something. I then stared it again and left the charger on and it stayed running for few min then went poorly and eventually died.
Sled was a a place for from me so I did not have any battery testing stuff with me.

Yep I need a new battery ran out got one for $32 at my dads work. Hooked it up after I got there (they already had it charging for me when I got there) and it worked.
Looked at the old battery and the thing was dry when I took off the cap.

"Dads Work" so it was discounted. He is the head mech for 3 ace hardware stores.
I think the store cost was $25ish but they wanted retail $80 something.
It usually cost little more (some times alot) there then walmart for most things if you pay retail. Then again walmart, fleet farm, manards is any where from 2-50 mi away for most of the people shopping there.
